Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport has recorded growth in both passenger and cargo segments in FY26, serving around 44.47 million passengers and handling 5,32,000 tonnes of cargo. It has also been ranked in the ACI Large Airports category. The airport’s international traffic grew 23.9 per cent to 7.23 million, while domestic traffic grew 3.3 per cent to 37.24 million.
It has also seen an increase in the number of transfer passengers, which is up by about 22 per cent year-on-year. This accounts for 15.7 per cent of the total passenger traffic.
The Bengaluru airport has now expanded its connectivity to Hanoi and Riyadh, while services have also increased on routes to London Heathrow, Bangkok, Bahrain, Jeddah, Phuket, Kuwait, Kathmandu, Munich and Mauritius. Major international destinations include Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Singapore, London Heathrow and Kuala Lumpur.

With passenger traffic increasing, the operational capacity of the airport saw an expansion, with a total of 2,80,800 flight movements recorded, which marks an increase of 4.5 per cent over the previous year. The average daily movement was 769 flights, with a maximum of 837 flights recorded in a single day.
A new record was also set in passenger traffic, with 1,39,111 passengers travelling through the airport in a single day. The opening of the AISATS BLR Logistics Park has further strengthened the cargo handling capacity and processing system.
The cargo segment is seen to be maintaining a steady growth, handling 5,32,000 tonnes of cargo, which is up 6 per cent. 38 destinations are being served by 15 cargo airlines, with Chicago, Singapore, London Heathrow, Frankfurt, Shenzhen and Hong Kong being the major international hubs.
The international airport has now retained its position as the country’s leading export hub for perishable goods for the fifth year running, handling around 60 million roses this year, up 38 per cent in volume and 64 per cent in weight. Fairfax India Holdings Corporation is a major investor and is assisting in the development of the airport through significant investments.
