The Chennai Metro Rail recorded over ninety lakh passengers in April 2026.
A total of 90,18,069 passengers travelled on the Chennai metro network between April 1 and April 30. The system also recorded its highest single-day ridership for the month at 3,65,807 passengers.
This follows similar highs in 2025, when ridership first crossed the one-crore mark in July at 1.03 crore passengers, and again in September with 1.01 crore passengers.
The NCMC Singara Chennai Card remained the most preferred ticketing option, accounting for nearly half of all modes, including CMRL Travel Card, single-journey Paper QR/Token, and Static QR at stations, according to CMRL.
