Gaurav Garg, Research Analytics Lemonn Markets Desk, on today's market movements
The Indian stock market closed on a Positive note today, with the Nifty 50 settling at 24,211.90, up by 388.65.95 points or 1.63%. The session was characterized by a symmetrical triangle pattern, as the index opened at 24,107.00, reached a high of 24,280.95, and touched a low of 24,145.80. The Sensex also closed on a positive note, rising 1263.67 points, to close at a robust level.
Buying was broad-based with nearly all sectors closing in the green. IT emerged as the top sectoral gainer, rising 2.8%, buoyed by a strong overnight rally in US tech stocks. Auto stocks staged a sharp recovery, gaining 1.5% after being the worst performer in the previous session. Midcap and Smallcap indices outperformed benchmarks, each rising over 1.8%. Banking and financials also participated meaningfully. Pharma was the sole laggard, as investors rotated out of defensives into high-beta cyclicals amid improving risk appetite.
The primary trigger for today’s rally was rising hopes of renewed US–Iran peace talks, with US President Trump signalling negotiations may resume in Pakistan within days. This lifted sentiment globally and eased fears of a prolonged Strait of Hormuz disruption. Brent crude fell to $93–95/barrel for a second consecutive session, providing direct relief to India’s import bill and inflationary pressures. Domestically, the India VIX fear gauge slumped 8.81%, reflecting a meaningful reduction in investor anxiety and renewed confidence in the near-term market outlook.

Aditya Birla Capital introduces ‘LeadHerShip’ for women entrepreneurs in financial services
Aditya Birla Capital Limited (“ABCL”), one of India’s leading diversified
financial services companies, has introduced ‘LeadHerShip’, a women-to-women mentorship and
incubation initiative under its flagship fintech engagement platform, InFiniTe. The program is aimed
to support and empower early-stage women entrepreneurs within financial services and fintech
ecosystem by enabling access, accelerating capability building, and creating sustainable opportunities
to scale.
Over the past decade, India has witnessed steady growth in women entering leadership pipelines,

representation in leadership, particularly within the BFSI sector remains limited. LeadHerShip aims to
address this gap through a structured ecosystem that pairs women founders with senior women
leaders across Aditya Birla Capital businesses for a focused three-month mentoring journey.

AuthBridge announces strategic partnership with Redacto
AuthBridge, India’s leading provider of digital trust and identity verification solutions, today announced a strategic partnership with Redacto, a privacy-first technology company specialising in data redaction and consent governance. The partnership aims to help Indian enterprises operationalise consent management and strengthen compliance with the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act.
Through this partnership, AuthBridge and Redacto will combine identity intelligence with real-time consent governance and automated data redaction capabilities to help organisations embed consent across the entire data lifecycle from onboarding and identity verification to data access, processing, and sharing. The collaboration addresses a critical gap emerging in India’s consent-led digital economy, where organisations have advanced in data collection and identity verification but continue to face challenges in governing how personal data is used with valid consent, clear purpose limitation, and auditability, exposing enterprises to compliance and operational risks.
The collaboration will particularly support organisations in regulated sectors such as BFSI, healthcare, and digital platforms, where consent-driven data governance is becoming central to compliance and trust. By integrating identity verification with consent enforcement and data protection, the partnership aims to help enterprises move from fragmented compliance processes to a unified privacy and trust infrastructure.

Rahul Agrawal, Senior Economist, ICRA Ltd, on March WPI numbers
The WPI inflation nearly doubled to a 38-month high of 3.9% in March 2026 from 2.1% in February 2026, and printed largely in line with expectations (ICRA: +4.0%). While the uptick was broad-based, the crude petroleum and natural gas, and the fuel and power groups witnessed sizeable hardening in their YoY inflation rates, reflecting the impact of the surge in global energy prices owing to the West Asia crisis. Notably, these two groups together accounted for 150 bps of the 175 bps uptick in the headline print in March 2026 relative to February 2026.
While food inflation remained steady at 1.8% in March 2026, the core WPI (non-food manufactured items) hardened to 41-month high of 3.7% from 3.3% in February 2026. On a sequential basis, the core index hardened by 0.7% in March 2026, in line with the average for the previous three months.
Notably, the crude petroleum index in the WPI has risen by 49% on a MoM basis in March 2026, similar to the rise in the Brent crude oil prices. Interestingly, there is a change in the composition of the Indian basket of crude oil in March 2026 vis-à-vis February 2026, with a larger weight assigned to Brent compared to the sour West Asian grades, that have seen larger price spikes owing to the West Asia crisis.

WPI Inflation accelerates to 3.88% in March 2026 (provisional), driven by energy and manufacturing price pressures, says PHDCCI
The annual rate of inflation based on the All India Wholesale Price Index (WPI) stood at 3.88% (provisional) in March 2026, marking a notable increase from 2.13% in February 2026. The rise in headline WPI inflation was primarily driven by higher prices of crude petroleum & natural gas, manufactured products, non-food articles, and basic metals, indicating a broad-based uptick in wholesale price pressures.
“The sharp increase in WPI inflation in March 2026 over March 2025 reflects a more broad-based strengthening in price momentum driven by a jump in energy-related components and manufactured products, alongside a reversal of earlier softness in key primary commodities, said Mr. Rajeev Juneja, President, PHDCCI.”
On a sequential basis, the WPI index (All commodities) recorded a month-on-month increase of 1.64% in March 2026, compared to 0.38% in February 2026, suggesting a sharp acceleration in price momentum during the month, he added.

The RBI’s move to simplify upper-layer NBFC classification to an asset-size threshold (>Rs1 tn) is largely neutral for listed players, as most are already within this category. The change improves regulatory clarity and predictability, while maintaining tighter oversight through higher capital and governance requirements. Importantly, it reinforces confidence among rating agencies and investors, without disrupting growth. Overall, we remain constructive on large, well-capitalized NBFCs, which continue to benefit from scale, strong balance sheets, and a supportive regulatory environment.

Tata Small Cap Fund resumes lump sum inflows after valuation reset
Chandraprakash Padiyar, Senior Fund Manager, Tata Asset Management, basis the resumption of lump sum investment in the Tata Small Cap Fund.
“Over the last 15–18 months, we have undertaken a significant rebuild of the Tata Small Cap Fund portfolio, with nearly 75–80% of the portfolio rejigged and a sharper focus on high-conviction ideas. Today, the top 30 companies account for over 70% of the portfolio, reflecting our emphasis on concentration where we see strong earnings visibility and reasonable valuations. We had turned cautious on the small cap segment in June 2023 and had shut the lump sum window, as earnings expectations were running ahead of fundamentals and valuations had become elevated. However, over the past two years, market volatility and global geopolitical factors have led to a meaningful moderation in earnings expectations and a correction in valuations. At current levels, we believe valuations are far more reasonable and the risk-reward has turned favourable. Accordingly, we have reopened the lump sum window from April 2026, as we see selective opportunities where earnings growth can potentially be better than current expectations”

Tech Mahindra junks social media post on workplace misconduct
Tech Mahindra has rubbished claims of religious bias within the organisation’s offices.
The controversy began after an advocate at the Bombay High Court, Ashutosh Dubey, put out a post on the microblogging platform X (formerly Twitter) alleging that Tech Mahindra had declared its office pantry a “Footwear-Free Zone” till Ramzan for prayers and iftar.
“Colleagues asked to follow it in the name of ‘unity’,” said Dubey in his post.

Market commentary | Bitcoin | Avinash Shekhar, Co-Founder & CEO, Pi42
“Bitcoin is trading near the $74,000–$75,000 range, supported by renewed institutional participation and consistent accumulation by large holders. Notably, Strategy has accumulated over 19,000 BTC in just 10 days, highlighting aggressive buying by major players and reinforcing underlying demand in the market.
At the same time, inflows into spot Bitcoin ETFs have picked up again, signalling growing institutional confidence and strengthening the broader market structure. This combination of whale accumulation and institutional demand is helping Bitcoin sustain higher levels despite macro uncertainty.
From a price action perspective, Bitcoin’s ability to hold above key support zones suggests that the current move is not just sentiment-driven but backed by real capital inflows. If this trend continues, the market structure points toward a potential continuation of the uptrend, with the $76,000 level emerging as the next key resistance in the near term.
For investors, this phase reflects a transition where supply is gradually being absorbed by large participants, reducing selling pressure and creating a stronger base for the next leg higher, rather than indicating exhaustion at current levels.”

LME Al spot prices have risen 6% in last four days to a fresh high of $3,687/t likely as
a) Strait of Hormuz closure suggests risks of further smelter shutdowns due to alumina shortages,

JPM is now estimating 2026 aluminum deficit to be the largest in 26 years at 1.9MT & sees 2QCY26 average price of $3,800/t as scale of supply disruption becomes increasingly evident in physical market

India’s payments fintech is on a monetization improvement trajectory, with leading players increasingly entrenched in respective core areas of leadership
While product/services/distribution build-outs into comprehensive plays will continue across fintech ecosystem, large players don’t face significant disruption risks owing to:
a) across-the-board profitability push,
b) rising regulatory costs & compliance requirements,
c) stickiness borne out of integration into enterprise business workflows
Further, while consumer payments has seen flux in competitive positioning in the past decade, there have been relatively fewer changes in positioning/leadership within segments in merchant payments.

Expert View | CPI Inflation (March) | Vikrant Chaturvedi, Associate Director - Research, Brickwork Ratings
“India’s CPI inflation for March 2026, at a provisional 3.40% year-on-year, reflects a calibrated increase in price pressures while remaining comfortably within the Reserve Bank of India’s target band. The data indicate that higher energy and fuel-related costs are beginning to exert upward pressure, even as food inflation, at 3.87%, remains broadly manageable. Overall, the inflation print suggests that macroeconomic stability is intact, but the evolving global environment, particularly volatility in crude oil markets, calls for continued vigilance.
Looking ahead, headline inflation is expected to hover near current levels in the second half of the year, provided supply-side conditions remain favourable. The RBI is likely to maintain its neutral stance through the next quarter, as persistent services inflation and volatility in precious metals offset relief in the food basket. For credit markets, this stability reduces the risk of abrupt monetary tightening, helping sustain investor confidence in the macroeconomic framework and debt sustainability.”

Pre-Market Analysis | April 15, 2026
Gaurav Udani, Founder - ThinCredBlu Securities Ltd, writes: “Nifty is expected to open sharply higher around 24,200, up nearly 375 points, supported by easing crude oil prices and improving global sentiment.
The strong gap-up indicates renewed buying interest and a shift back towards a positive bias after recent volatility. However, with the index approaching higher levels, price action near resistance will be crucial.
Technically, 24,400 stands out as a key resistance. A sustained move above this level could trigger further momentum, potentially pushing Nifty towards the 24,800 zone in the near term.
On the downside, 24,000–23800 will act as immediate support, where dips could attract buying interest.
Given the sharp opening, traders should avoid chasing at higher levels and instead look for buy on dips opportunities with proper risk management.
Overall, sentiment remains positive, but sustainability above key resistance will determine the next leg of the move.”

Commodity Trading Advisers sold about $48 billion of S&P 500 futures in the past month but are now turning net buyers, with potential inflows of roughly $45 billion in a flat market, according to Paul Leyzerovich. Systematic funds had dumped about $240 billion of global equities, amplifying volatility. Improving technicals and easing geopolitical risks are now supporting renewed buying.

Eraaya Lifespaces Resolves Ebix Payment Services Matter with ₹180 Crore Settlement
In terms of Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, Eraaya Lifespaces Limited hereby informs that a long-standing shareholder matter relating to Ebix Payment Services, a step-down subsidiary associated with the ItzCash, has been conclusively resolved, with the Hon’ble Bombay High Court approving the Consent Terms entered into between the concerned parties.
The matter emanated from legacy structures and arrangements under the previous management of the Ebix group and was not part of the Chapter 11 resolution process or the acquisition consideration paid by Eraaya, thereby representing an inherited overhang post-acquisition.
Following the acquisition of Ebix Inc, and all its global subsidiaries in August 2024, Eraaya’s management undertook a structured, time-bound review of such legacy positions, with a clear mandate to identify, isolate and resolve historical complexities while reinforcing governance discipline and operational clarity. In furtherance of this approach, the Company has executed a negotiated framework for the complete buyout of minority shareholding in Ebix Payment Services Private Limited, for an aggregate settlement amount of approximately INR 1,800 million, to be discharged over an agreed timeframe.
Despite the obligation not forming part of the original acquisition construct, Eraaya has taken a considered and decisive call to resolve the matter in entirety, with the objective of eliminating uncertainty, simplifying the group structure, and enabling sharper strategic focus on core operating priorities.
This resolution marks a material clean-up of a legacy overhang and reflects:
A decisive governance-led approach, prioritising resolution over deferral
Disciplined and forward-looking capital allocation, including towards inherited non-core exposures
A clear emphasis on stability, transparency and long-term value creation
With the Hon’ble Court’s approval, the matter attains finality and remove longstanding structural constraints, whereby shall enhance operational flexibility within the payments business and enable more efficient deployment of capital across growth verticals.

Inflows into gold ETFs turn positive in past fortnight
Investments in physically-backed gold exchange-traded funds (ETFs) turned positive in the past fortnight, after turning negative in March. However, for every $3 inflow, there was over a $1 outflow during the period, data from the World Gold Council (WGC) showed.
Asia has single-handedly ensured that the inflow remains positive till now, with the region making up over 86 per cent of net investments.
The WGC year-to-date (as of April 10) data showed that investments in gold ETFs were more than a year ago, but outflows were also triple what they were a year ago. Net inflows were $10 billion lower than a year ago. Read the full story here

Sensex, Nifty 50 were down nearly 1% at close on Monday
Benchmark indices had ended the previous session on a weak note, with both BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty declining nearly 1 per cent on Monday amid rising global uncertainties. The 30-share Sensex fell 702.68 points, or 0.91 per cent, to close at 76,847.57, after plunging as much as 1,681.93 points during the day. The broader Nifty dropped 207.95 points, or 0.86 per cent, to settle at 23,842.65.
Market sentiment was weighed down by escalating geopolitical tensions following the breakdown of talks between the US and Iran, raising fears of a prolonged conflict. This triggered a sharp surge in global crude oil prices, with Brent crude jumping 7.73 per cent to USD 102.6 per barrel.
Among Sensex constituents, major laggards included Maruti Suzuki, InterGlobe Aviation, Bajaj Finance, Reliance Industries, Tata Consultancy Services and HDFC Bank. On the other hand, ICICI Bank, NTPC and Axis Bank were among the gainers.
Asian markets such as Japan’s Nikkei 225, South Korea’s Kospi and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng ended lower, while China’s Shanghai Composite index closed marginally higher. European markets were also trading in negative territory.
