Sensex closed 1,695 points higher at 75,527, while the Nifty gained 461 points to settle at 23,623, tracking gains across other Asian markets. The rally was supported by falling crude oil prices after US President Donald Trump cancelled plans for a strike on Iran, citing progress in talks.
All major Nifty indices ended in the green, led by gains in banking stocks.
Of the 4,422 stocks traded, 3,234 advanced, 1,030 declined, and 158 remained unchanged. A total of 102 stocks touched their 52-week highs, while 79 hit 52-week lows. As many as 219 stocks hit the upper circuit and 151 stocks touched the lower circuit.
The Indian rupee strengthened 0.7% against the US dollar to 95.11, marking its strongest single-day gain in 10 weeks. Expectations of a potential US-Iran peace agreement pushed oil prices sharply lower and triggered an unwinding of long dollar positions.

Mumbai, June 2026: The Reserve Bank of India’s latest measures to boost foreign currency inflows are set to strengthen India’s forex reserves, improve banking system liquidity and support the rupee, with total inflows estimated at USD 40-50 billion in FY27, according to a report by Motilal Oswal Financial Services Ltd (MOFSL).
The RBI has introduced special facilities for Foreign Currency Non‑Resident account FCNR(B) deposits and external commercial borrowings (ECBs), enabling banks to access overseas funds at significantly lower costs. The initiatives are aimed at attracting foreign capital, improving resource mobilisation and enhancing overall liquidity conditions within the banking system.
According to the report, banks stand to benefit from a 200-250 basis point reduction in borrowing costs through the ECB route under the RBI’s concessional swap framework. Lower funding costs are expected to support credit growth while helping banks maintain funding efficiency.
The report highlights that the RBI’s move mirrors a similar initiative introduced in 2013, which led to FCNR(B) deposit inflows of USD 27 billion and overall NRI deposit inflows of USD 34 billion. The programme also contributed to stronger forex reserves and greater stability in the currency market.
FCNR(B) deposits currently account for just 1.2% of the banking system’s total deposits, indicating significant headroom for growth. Banks have already increased FCNR(B) deposit rates across key tenors, improving the attractiveness of these deposits for non-resident Indians.

Kotak Securities raises targets on Honasa Consumer and Equitas SFB; flags data centre opportunity
Honasa Consumer (Add, FV: ₹455) At its maiden Investor Day, Honasa’s management outlined its FY2031 vision of revenues of ₹5,500 crore+, implying an 18 per cent CAGR over FY2026-31E, and a 500 basis points-plus expansion in EBITDA margin to 15 per cent+, translating into a 28 per cent EBITDA CAGR. The company’s strategy of concentrating A&P investments on focus categories while strengthening its direct distribution network has put Mamaearth back on a growth trajectory, with broad-based momentum across channels. Management expressed confidence in its increasingly refined brand-building and scaling playbooks and appears well-positioned to drive growth across existing brands while expanding into new categories such as nutraceuticals and fragrances. We have increased EPS estimates by 6-8 per cent and revised the fair value to ₹455 (from ₹405), based on 46x June 2028E PE (45x earlier).
Equitas Small Finance Bank (Buy, FV: ₹95) Equitas SFB hosted an analyst day in Mumbai yesterday to showcase its business strategy and leadership team. Management shared a five-year outlook suggesting a 21 per cent advances CAGR and a steady-state RoA of 1.5 per cent. Asset quality has shown negligible signs of stress so far from the West Asia conflict, while business growth remains strong. We continue to like Equitas as a play on the benign credit environment and retain our Buy rating with a fair value of ₹95 (₹90 earlier).
Electric Utilities and Real Estate (Sector View: Cautious) India’s data centre infrastructure stands at 1.6 GW and remains at a nascent stage, with medium-term growth targets of 15 GW by FY2035 — still a fraction of the current capacity in the US (40 GW). Data centres represent a growing opportunity with power demand of 150 billion units by FY2035E, or 6 per cent of overall demand, and will require real estate investment of 160 million sq ft (12 per cent of office space in FY2035E). Utilities such as Clean Max and Adani Green, which cater directly to such industrial demand, are likely to be beneficiaries, while real estate companies such as Lodha, Mindspace REIT, DLF and Anant Raj are looking to capitalise through land sales and leasing of constructed power shells.
Pharmaceuticals (Sector View: Attractive) The Indian Pharma Market reported robust 12.1 per cent year-on-year growth in May 2026, marking double-digit growth for the sixth consecutive month. Excluding GLP-1, we estimate May 2026 sales still grew around 11 per cent year-on-year. IPM growth in the MAT May 2026 period stood at 10.7 per cent year-on-year. While pricing contributed the bulk of IPM growth in MAT May 2026, the contribution from volumes increased to a healthy 320 basis points versus 80 basis points in MAT May 2025. Led by continued benefits from pricing and new launches, along with acquisitions and in-licensing deals, we bake in 10-18 per cent year-on-year (ex-TRP) domestic sales growth for our coverage in FY2027E. TRP, Cipla, Sun Pharma, Mankind, Emcure and Corona are our preferred picks in the space.
