Industry outlook strengthens Wakefit’s long-term positioning

India’s home and furnishings market, valued at ₹2.8–3.0 trillion in CY2024, is projected to expand to ₹5.2–5.9 trillion by CY2030, growing at an 11–13 per cent CAGR, according to Master Capital Services Ltd. The mattress segment, currently at ₹145–160 billion, is expected to grow 10–12 per cent annually to reach ₹270–300 billion by CY2030, driven by increasing adoption of branded and ergonomic products.

The furniture market is projected to grow at 10–12 per cent CAGR to ₹3,200–3,900 billion by CY2030, while furnishings and décor are expected to expand at 12–14 per cent CAGR, reaching ₹1,630–1,810 billion over the same period. Growth across these categories is supported by rising disposable incomes, urbanization, homeownership, higher focus on comfort and functionality, and increasing demand for organized retail and online channels.

Master Capital Services noted that Wakefit Innovations, with its vertically integrated and omnichannel model, remains strategically positioned to benefit from this sectoral expansion. The brokerage stated that investors may consider the IPO as a potential long-term investment opportunity.

Wakefit Innovations IPO opens amid ‘Avoid’ call from SBI Securities

SBI Securities has assigned an “Avoid” rating to the issue, citing expensive valuations compared to listed peers. At the upper end of the price band, the issue is valued at an EV/Sales multiple of 4.7x based on post-issue capital. The brokerage noted that although the company has turned EBITDA positive in FY24 and PAT positive in the first half of FY26, the pricing leaves limited comfort relative to Sheela Foam.

Wakefit is India’s largest D2C home and furnishings company by FY24 revenue, offering mattresses, furniture and furnishings across online and offline channels. As of September 2025, the company operated 125 COCO stores and 1,504 multi-brand outlets nationwide. Its logistics network includes a mother warehouse, seven inventory-holding points and 18 delivery centres.

The company reported revenue of ₹1,273.7 crore in FY25, with mattresses contributing over 61 per cent. It posted a net loss of ₹35 crore in FY25 but recorded a profit of ₹35.6 crore in the first half of FY26. Proceeds from the fresh issue will be used for store expansion, lease payments, equipment purchases and marketing.
