Titagarh Naval Systems launches fourth Navy Diving Craft
2026-04-20 · via Company News: Companies Analysis, Updates & Insights | The HinduBusinessLine

Titagarh Naval Systems Ltd (TNSL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd, launched its fourth Diving Support Craft (DSC A23, Yard 328) for the Indian Navy on Sunday at its Kolkata shipyard. The vessel was side-launched into the Hooghly River at 2.55 PM, with approximately 150 employees present at the ceremony.

The naming was performed by Deepa Sivakumar, wife of Vice Admiral B Sivakumar, who also addressed the gathering. The craft is part of a series of five DSCs being built under the Government of India’s Make in India initiative, designed to support the Navy’s Command Clearance Diving Teams in underwater inspection, repair, maintenance, and salvage operations in harbour and near-shore environments. The 30-metre catamaran-type vessel uses indigenously sourced systems.

Vice Admiral Sivakumar called the launch a milestone in India’s defence self-reliance, highlighting the collaboration between the Navy, the shipyard, and industry partners. Umesh Chowdhary, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Titagarh Rail Systems, described the event as reflecting the company’s focus on indigenous defence manufacturing capabilities.

TNSL is also developing a new shipyard at Falta, West Bengal, spread over approximately 50 acres, designed to handle vessels up to 180 metres in length with an annual capacity of 12–16 ships. The facility is being built to Industry 4.0 standards. The subsidiary carries an order book of over ₹500 crore.

Shares of Titagarh Rail Systems on NSE were trading at ₹736.60 on Monday morning, down 0.60 per cent from the previous close. The stock has gained nearly 18 per cent over the past month but remains down about 16 per cent year-to-date, with a market capitalisation of approximately ₹9,952 crore.
