Realty major Prestige Group has partnered with Bangalore Airport City Ltd (BACL) to set up 14.2-acre convention centre within the Bangalore Airport City premises.
Prestige plans to invest approximately ₹1,800 crore for this project. The construction is scheduled to begin by 2027, and a formal inauguration is targeted for 2031.
The project comes as Indian airports increasingly seek to transform themselves into integrated business and lifestyle destinations rather than mere transit hubs. Similar airport-city developments have emerged around Delhi’s Aerocity and Hyderabad’s GMR Aerocity Hyderabad, combining offices, hotels, retail and entertainment spaces. Bengaluru Airport City is looking to carve out a distinct identity by focusing on convention infrastructure, next-generation corporate campuses, concert arenas and innovation-driven commercial districts.
The Prestige-led development will add a convention and exhibition centre, premium retail and cultural spaces, alongside two hospitality properties operated by St. Regis and Marriott Marquis, together offering around 500 rooms.
Commenting on the development, Irfan Razack, Chairman and Managing Director of the Prestige Group, shared his long-term dedication to the region, stating, “I have made my business in this city of Bangalore. Now it’s my turn to give this city what it deserves in terms of a destination that this city truly deserves.”
The plan is being conceptualised by the New York based international architectural firm Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF), celebrated for global projects such as the Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi and the ongoing Terminal 5 expansion at Singapore’s Changi Airport.
Hari Marar, Managing Director and CEO of Bangalore International Airport, noted, “The city lacks a high-quality convention centre. Businesses, business leaders in Bangalore have been demanding this for a very long time. With this convention centre, we’ll see some really high-quality global events coming here, which means that more and more Fortune 500 companies will establish their offices here.” Addressing the scale and significance of the development.
