Tata Power has appointed the Centre of Renewable Energy (CORE), the specialised training arm of POWERCON Group, to upskill its workforce through a customised programme in wind turbine Operations and Maintenance (O&M).

The first phase focuses on theoretical sessions covering safety protocols, wind power plant architecture, turbine systems and balance of plant (BoP) functions. The second phase offers hands-on field training at operational wind sites, while the final phase emphasises advanced troubleshooting, component-level diagnostics, remote command and control, data analytics and asset performance management.

Participants will also gain access to POWERCON’s Centre for Engineering Excellence (CFEE), where they will work on turbine control simulations, power flow systems, and component and PCB repairs. Training at the Energy Studio—an international remote operations and analytics centre for multi-gigawatt wind, solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) assets—will further enhance real-time operational understanding.

In addition to technical modules, the programme includes managerial training focused on leadership at project sites and handling operational challenges in large-scale renewable energy installations.

Col. (Dr.) Bharat Sharma, COO of CORE said, “We are delighted to have been appointed by TATA Power for this specialised training initiative. Serving a leading energy company like TATA Power is a recognition of CORE Academy’s ‘rare competence’ for RE industry-relevant training. CORE stands as a unique proposition to build capacity for RE skilled job ready professionals to support India’s ambition of 900 GW of Clean Energy by 2035”.

Paresh Sahasrabudhe, Head - O&M (Wind) at TATA Power, said, “We are pleased to have choosen POWERCON’s CORE Academy for this specialised training initiative. The extensive knowledge pool on the state-of-the-art RE technologies and domain expert trainers at CORE Academy help augment the RE workforce’s technical capabilities as we continue to expand our RE portfolio”.
