Adani Airport Holdings and IHG Hotels & Resorts have announced plans to develop a five-star hotel at the international airport in Thiruvananthapuram. Thiruvananthapuram is among the five locations included in the recently signed five-hotel agreement between the two companies.
The hotel, under the Holiday Inn brand, will come up opposite the international terminal at Chacka. Environmental clearance for the project had already been obtained earlier.
The project, estimated to cost around ₹135 crore, will feature 240 rooms across five floors along with a conference hall capable of accommodating more than 600 people. The development is expected to generate employment opportunities for around 1,200 people, both directly and indirectly.
Apart from Thiruvananthapuram, airport hotels will also be developed in Mangaluru, Navi Mumbai and Jaipur, said a press release issued here.
Industry sources said that the region is witnessing increased infrastructure activity, including the recent allocation of an immigration counter at the Vizhinjam International Seaport. The project is expected to boost local tourism and passenger amenities.
