Nordic Semiconductor has added a new executive role aimed at strengthening its developer ecosystem, appointing Jo Uthus as Executive Vice President of Marketing and Developer Experience. The move signals the company’s growing focus on developers as it expands its low-power wireless connectivity platform.
For engineers and technology companies building IoT and wireless products, the change highlights how semiconductor vendors are investing more heavily in developer tools, communities, and software ecosystems to speed up product development.
The new EVP position brings marketing and developer experience together under one leadership structure. According to the company, the goal is to better align product messaging, developer tools, and ecosystem engagement.
“Developers play a central role in Nordic’s success,” said Vegard Wollan, CEO of Nordic Semiconductor. “Our leadership is built on trust in our hardware, software, and cloud services, combined with a best-in-class developer experience. By uniting marketing and developer experience, we strengthen this advantage further – helping developers bring products to market faster.”
Nordic has built a large developer community around its wireless connectivity chips, supported by resources such as its DevZone platform. The company says aligning marketing with developer experience should help streamline communication with engineers while making development tools and documentation easier to access.
Uthus joined Nordic on April 1, 2026, bringing more than 25 years of industry experience. He previously held senior positions at Atmel and Microchip Technology, both known for strong developer-focused ecosystems.
“Nordic has built a unique position of trust with developers worldwide”, says Jo Uthus. “Our focus is to expand that reach, simplify development, and reduce time from prototype to production – enabling customers to build better products, faster.”
The appointment reflects Nordic’s broader strategy to evolve beyond a supplier of wireless connectivity chips into a provider of integrated solutions. Moreover, the company is increasingly combining ultra-low-power hardware with software and cloud services to support end-to-end wireless product development.
For design engineers and IoT developers, the move suggests Nordic plans to deepen its platform approach — making developer experience a central pillar of its future growth.
