Telangana has been allocated ₹9,968 crore as part of the 16th Finance Commission grant to States for developing infrastructure in the local bodies, including the Panchayats and Zilla Parishads.
The Centre has also released guidelines on the utilisation of funds in the provision of drinking water, sanitation, streetlights and rural roads. The funds should not be utilised for payment of salaries, pension and wages, the Centre said, adding that strict action would be taken against those responsible if the allocated funds was used for other purposes.
The funds allocated for Telangana is part of the total of ₹4,35,236 crore earmarked by the 16th Finance Commission for the States, to be spent during 2026-27 - 2030-31.
