Leading jewellers are stepping up gold exchange and recycling programmes as Prime Minister Narendra Modi pushes to curb gold imports, with consumers increasingly trading old jewellery for new purchases amid rising prices.Public sector banks in India are increasingly hiring graduate apprentices as a workforce strategy to meet rising operational needs in areas such as customer service and digital banking, with institutions like the State Bank of India recruiting 7,150 apprentices and Union Bank of India hiring 1,800. Apprentices receive a monthly stipend of ₹15,000 to ₹20,000, with partial government reimbursement, while banks also continue regular recruitment for clerical and officer roles alongside this model.
