Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said he will visit West Bengal on June 20 and 21 to attend Paschim Banga Divas celebrations, launch several key development and agriculture initiatives, participate in the International Yoga Day event, and commission three indigenously built warships.

In a series of post on X, Modi said June 20 would be particularly significant as Paschim Banga Divas would be observed in the state.

"I will be in West Bengal for various programmes on June 20 and 21. Tomorrow, June 20, is especially significant due to the celebration of Paschim Banga Divas. The event will be held in Tarakeswar in Hooghly district," he said.

The prime minister said Tarakeswar holds historical significance because of its association with Bharatiya Jana Sangh founder Syama Prasad Mookerjee and his efforts to preserve Bengal's cultural identity.

Modi said he would launch several development initiatives from Tarakeswar and release the latest instalment under the PM-KISAN scheme.

"From Tarakeswar, the 23rd instalment of PM-KISAN will be released, benefiting innumerable hardworking farmers across India," he said.

The prime minister said several flagship agriculture-related initiatives of the Centre would also be launched on the occasion.

"Key central government schemes related to agriculture will also be launched. These include the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Agri Stack under the Digital Agriculture Mission, the National Mission on Natural Farming and the Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana. These initiatives will benefit hardworking farmers of West Bengal," he said.

Modi further said he will participate in International Yoga Day celebrations in Kolkata on June 21.

"Yoga Day programmes will be held in Kolkata. I am very happy that such an event is being organised in the city," he said.

The prime minister said that following the Yoga Day programme, he will attend an event for the commissioning of three indigenously designed warships.

"After the Yoga Day programme, I will attend another event where three indigenously designed warships will be commissioned. These are INS Dunagiri, INS Sanshodhak and INS Agray," he said.

Modi said the induction of the warships would strengthen India's maritime security and reinforce the country's commitment to self-reliance in the defence sector.
