Bandi Bhageerath, son of Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar, has “surrendered” to the police in connection with a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act on Saturday.
A case was registered against him in a city police station by a girl and her parents alleging sexual harassment. A counter case has also been filed by Bhageerath on the girl and her parents alleging that he was a victim of ‘honey trapping’ - a practice involving the use of romantic or sexual relationships for interpersonal, political, or monetary purpose.
The Telangana police formed a special investigation team to look into the matter and served a notice to him to appear before the police. As he failed to appear before the police a look-out notice was issued today.
The Telangana High Court had on Friday declined to grant him a pre-arrest bail.
In a statement, Bandi Sanjay said he had “handed over” his son in respect to the law while maintaining that his son was “innocent”.
Bhageerath is likely to be produced before the magistrate late tonight.
