UPES Dehradun, a leading multidisciplinary and research university, is focusing on tech-driven learning for students in Kerala and has invited applications for the 2026-27 academic year across multidisciplinary programmes.
At an event in Kochi, the university detailed its transition into an ‘AI-First’ university, elaborating its vision as the ‘University of Tomorrow’ built around AI integration, deep industry collaboration, research strength and career outcomes in every student’s learning journey.
UPES has deployed ChatGPT Edu across its entire campus in collaboration with OpenAI. This integration provides governed and free access to advanced AI tools for all 19,100+ students and 1,500+ faculty members, embedding AI literacy as a default foundation across all disciplines.
Jayasankar Variyar, Pro Vice-Chancellor, UPES, said: “The future of education requires not just updated curricula, but a fundamental shift in how students engage with technology, industry, and problem-solving. In regions like Kerala, we are witnessing growing demand for programs that blend academic rigour with real-world application - particularly in areas such as AI, data science, and healthcare technologies.”
Technology education demand in Kerala is rising sharply with the State’s wider digital ambitions under IT Vision 2031. This is reflected in the sustained demand for professional education, with over 1.2 lakh candidates appearing for KEAM 2025 across engineering and pharmacy streams, and as Computer Science and Engineering remain among the most competitive branches in KEAM admissions.
Rajiv Nandwani, Senior Director, School of Computer Science, said UPES has built a future-ready ecosystem that brings together deep industry engagement, cutting-edge technologies, and interdisciplinary learning to shape meaningful career trajectories.
