India has approved a new ₹5,000 crore aviation support window under ECLGS 5.0 to help airlines hit by the West Asia crisis. Airlines such as SpiceJet and Akasa Air are expected to benefit, with loans of up to ₹1,500 crore per borrower backed by a 90 per cent government guarantee, lower interest rates, and repayment relief measures through March 2027.

Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam chief C. Joseph Vijay met Tamil Nadu Governor R. N. Ravi to stake claim to form the government after the Indian National Congress extended support, taking TVK’s tally to 113 seats. However, TVK still remains short of the 118-seat majority mark in the 234-member Assembly, with support talks continuing with parties including VCK, DMDK and PMK.

The decades-old alliance between the Indian National Congress and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam has collapsed after Congress backed Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam to form the government following the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. The DMK called the move a “backstab,” while Congress leaders said the public verdict had gone against the DMK government and argued that supporting TVK was necessary to counter the BJP’s rise in the State.

The Centre will continue the pari passu funding model under India Semiconductor Mission 2.0, releasing subsidies alongside company investments to tighten fiscal control and reduce project risks. The government says the model has helped attract ₹1.64 lakh crore in semiconductor investment commitments since 2021, while new projects by Crystal Matrix Limited and Suchi Semicon expand India’s push to build a domestic chip manufacturing ecosystem and reduce import dependence.
