The all-new MINI Countryman C - a sports utility vehicle (SUV) from the German automaker is now manufactured in India. So far, it was manufactured at the company’s plant in Germany.
The company on Wednesday launched the new petrol variant of Countryman C, manufactured at its Mahindra World City plant in Chennai It can be booked at all MINI India authorised dealerships and deliveries for the same will commence immediately, according to the company.
Hardeep Singh Brar, President and CEO, BMW Group India, said, MINI was “Born in the UK, raised in Germany and proudly made in India.”
The introductory price of MINI Countryman C is ₹47.50 lakhs, said Brar.
“We are thrilled that this car will now be made in India, strategically strengthening the portfolio and offering an absolutely great value proposition. MINI is a highly aspirational brand for modern, urban Indian luxury customers. The Countryman C is tailor-made for individuals who demand robust utility and everyday versatility, but still want to make a distinct, expressive statement.”
Thomas Dose, Managing Director, BMW Group Plant Chennai, said the company has been manufacturing Mini in Chennai since 2007. Every single car from this facility meets the global standards. So far ten different models are manufactured and Mini Countrymen C is the 11th model. Localisation is around 50 per cent supported by 10 vendors, he said.
Available in five exciting colour options - British Racing Green, Smokey Green, Nanug White, Slate Blue, Chilli Red.
