An IndiGo flight bound for Chennai from Bengaluru was evacuated on Tuesday after smoke was detected in the aircraft while it was taxiing for departure.
In an official statement, an IndiGo spokesperson said that smoke was noticed on flight 6E 6017 operating from Bengaluru to Chennai while the aircraft was taxing towards the runway on May 26.
“In the interest of safety, an immediate evacuation was carried out and all the relevant authorities were informed,” the airline said.
The airline said all passengers and crew members were safe and had been moved to the terminal, where assistance was being provided by IndiGo teams.
An alternate aircraft has been arranged to operate the flight and is expected to depart shortly, the airline added. Refreshments are being served to passengers during the delay.
