Freshworks Founder and Executive Chairman Girish Mathrubootham has acquired a prime residential property in Chennai’s prestigious Boat Club locality for ₹211 crore, marking one of the city’s notable high-value residential transactions this year.
Property registration data accessed through Zapkey showed that the transaction was registered on June 17. The buyer is Ratna Girish Mathrubootham, while the sellers are Prakash Dodla Reddy and Anita Dodla Reddy.
The property, known as Anita’s Apartment, is located at Plot No. 13, Boat Club Road in R.A. Puram. Spread across 18,358 sq ft (about 7.65 grounds), the asset comprises a five-level building with a total built-up area of 47,168 sq ft
As part of the transaction, a loan of ₹140 crore has been availed from HSBC against the property, according to the registration documents.
The acquisition is understood to be for Mathrubootham’s personal residence.
Boat Club remains one of Chennai’s most sought-after residential enclaves, with limited land availability, tree-lined avenues and large private estates making transactions in the locality relatively rare. The neighbourhood has long been home to leading industrialists, business families and senior professionals, with property values commanding a significant premium over most other parts of the city.
The property was previously owned by the family of Brij Mohan Reddy, founder of Dodla Dairy. The deal adds to a series of marquee residential purchases by startup founders and business leaders in recent years.
