The Kerala Vyapari Vyavasayi Ekopana Samiti has called on the State Government to establish special industrial zones aimed at boosting women entrepreneurship across Kerala.
According to state president Raju Apsara, implementing such a concept would significantly increase women-led enterprises, generate new employment opportunities, and contribute to the State’s overall economic growth.
He also emphasized the need to prioritize women-owned units in government procurement and introduce dedicated financing schemes to support them. He suggested appointing Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) and Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (KINFRA) as nodal agencies to drive the initiative.
Speaking after inaugurating a leadership training camp organised by the State Committee of the Women’s Wing, he pointed out that women’s participation in the workforce has not matched expectations despite Kerala’s strong indicators in education and social development.
Targeted policy interventions are needed to bridge this gap, he said adding that dedicated industrial parks could help address key challenges faced by women entrepreneurs, particularly in access to training and support infrastructure.
Raju Apsara also urged the government to roll out the project on a pilot basis in at least three districts at the earliest.
