In a major relief to Mumbaikars, telcos Vodafone Idea (Vi) and Bharti Airtel announced the reconnection of mobile network across 16 stations of Mumbai Metro's Aqua Line on Thursday morning .
Services are live from Aarey JVLR to Acharya Atre Chowk (including SEEPZ, MIDC Andheri, Marol Naka, CSMI Airport T2, Sahar Road, CSMI Airport T1, Santacruz, Bandra Colony, Bandra Kurla Complex, Dharavi, Shitla Devi Mandir, Dadar, Siddhivinayak, Worli). The rest of the metro line from Science Centre to Cuffe Parade will be connected over the coming weeks, said Vi. Meanwhile, Airtel connectivity is now live at 10 metro stations, from Aarey JVLR to BKC.
Speaking on the development, Jagbir Singh, Chief Technology Officer, Vodafone Idea, said, “Reliable connectivity is an essential part of everyone’s daily commute. We are very pleased that our service is available on Aqua Line Phase 1 of the Mumbai Metro network, Phase 2 will go live soon.”
Network connectivity was suspended in the first half of 2026 following the fallout between Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation and ACES Infrastructure. At the time, Vi had set up its in-building solutions along with the third party. The two other telcos, Bharti Airtel and Jio Infocomm, are expected to set up their own network infrastructure in the coming months to provide network services throughout the metro line.
