ensex Today, Nifty 50 | Stock Market Highlights - Find here all the live updates related to Sensex, Nifty, BSE, NSE, share prices and Indian stock markets for 26th May 2026.
Indian benchmark indices ended lower on Tuesday amid heightened geopolitical tensions and a sharp rebound in crude oil prices following reports of fresh US military operations in southern Iran.
The BSE Sensex fell 479.26 points, or 0.63 per cent, to close at 76,009.70, while the NSE Nifty declined 118 points, or 0.49 per cent, to settle at 23,913.70. Losses in heavyweight stocks such as Bharti Airtel, Tata Consultancy Services and HDFC Bank dragged markets lower.
Out of 3,425 stocks traded on NSE, 1,655 advanced, 1,652 declined, 118 unchanged. 115 hit 52-week high, 35 hit 52-week low, 132 hit upper circuit, 84 hit lower ciruit.
Barring Nifty Metal, which gained 1.10 per cent, indices including Nifty Midsmall IT & Telecom, Nifty Chemicals, Nifty Midsmall Financial Services, Nifty FMCG and Nifty Auto ended marginally higher, while all other sectoral indices closed in the red, led by Nifty Consumer Durables.
Brent crude rose nearly 3 per cent to USD 98.96 per barrel, reviving concerns over imported inflation, fiscal pressure and currency weakness for India. Analysts said fading optimism around a possible US-Iran peace deal triggered risk-off sentiment globally, overshadowing supportive domestic factors and strong foreign institutional investor inflows.
The Indian rupee fell 0.47 per cent against the US dollar to 95.68 as crude oil prices rebounded amid fading hopes of an imminent US-Iran peace agreement.

Stock Market Live: Knight Frank sees $2.3 bn dry powder in real estate AIFs, warns of widening gap between office demand and future supply
India’s real estate market continues to witness strong occupier demand across office and warehousing sectors. According to Knight Frank India’s latest study, India Real Estate Investment- Alternative Investment Funds (AIF), Platforms, and the Funding Gap, real estate-focused AIFs recorded capital commitments of USD 14.5 bn between 2021 and 2025. Of this, nearly USD 7.9 bn has been raised, with around USD 5.7 bn already deployed by Indian investors. This leaves an estimated USD 2.3 bn as dry powder available for future deployment as of December 2025. However, the pace of institutional capital deployment remains insufficient to support supply creation, resulting in a widening gap between demand and future supply requirements.
Across major real estate asset classes, ongoing capitalisation rates (Cap Rate) currently range between 2.60% and 7.75%, depending on asset type, risk profile and income stability. Office assets continue to remain a preferred segment for institutional capital, supported by stable income visibility and cap rates of 7.25 - 7.75%, marginally above the 10-year Government of India bond yield of around 6.6%. Assuming the entire USD 2.3 bn of available dry powder is deployed solely towards office development, it can create only approximately 12.2 million square feet (mn sq ft) of new supply meeting 14% (approximately) of India’s annual office demand of 86.4 mn sq ft as recorded in 2025. This not only underscores the growing gap between occupier demand and institutional capital availability but also indicates the opportunity domestic and global capital has in India

Stock Market Live: DIIs offset FII selling with ₹2.4 lakh crore inflow in Q4 FY26; domestic participation drives market resilience
Ventura Research has highlighted strong domestic institutional participation in Indian equity markets during Q4 FY25–26, despite continued heavy selling by Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs).
According to Ventura’s latest Mutual Fund Quarterly Booklet, FIIs recorded net outflows of ₹1,31,122 crore during Jan–Mar 2026, while Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) infused ₹2,44,052 crore, helping offset market volatility driven by global uncertainty, elevated US bond yields, and cautious foreign investor sentiment.
For the full fiscal year FY25–26, FII outflows narrowed by nearly 34% YoY to ₹2,64,819 crore, while DII inflows surged around 47% YoY to ₹8,43,206 crore — reflecting the increasing strength and resilience of domestic participation in Indian markets.
Ventura noted that sustained mutual fund inflows, rising retail participation, and strong domestic consumption continue to support long-term market stability despite fluctuations in global capital flows.

Colin Shah, MD, Kama Jewelry on gold's performance and outlook:
“Gold prices have surged recently due to several factors including global geopolitical events and the appreciation of the USD along with changing Central Bank policies. The initial safe haven demand in the conflict in West Asia has now been corrected and markets are increasingly following the monetary messages and risk sentiment of global markets. In the global arena, gold is viewed as having a short-term range-bound period, with further movement driven by evolution of inflation, interest rates and most importantly geopolitical stability.
In India, the depreciation of the INR and increasing customs tariff are still contributing to the rise in gold prices. Consumer demand is steady, especially from the wedding and festive categories, but customers are becoming more value aware resulting in a gradual trend towards lighter purchases and investment driven purchases. We predict a consolidating period in the global and local markets for gold in the years ahead, followed by some volatility. In FY26-27, the gold price is expected to rally to INR 1,80,000, but the demand for jewellery is likely to remain subdued, due to the economic uncertainty.

Precious Metals hold in consolidation as US-Iran tensions offset easing oil concerns
· Price movement– Gold and silver remain under pressure as Middle East uncertainty sustains investor caution around inflation risk. The dollar holds firm after renewed US strikes on Iranian targets and signals that a diplomatic resolution may be delayed, undermining expectations of an imminent Strait of Hormuz reopening.
· Geopolitical Developments - US Central Command conducted strikes on missile launch sites and vessels suspected of mine deployment in southern Iran, framing the operations as force protection measures. President Trump acknowledged ongoing diplomatic engagement with Tehran but cautioned that military action could resume if talks collapse.
· Macro-economic Signals – Gold is down nearly 15% and silver nearly 20% since the conflict began, as energy-driven inflation fears reinforced central bank tightening expectations. However, the week’s sharp oil price decline has partially eased inflation concerns and tempered rate hike bets.
Technical Triggers
· Gold is ranging between $4,450–$4,600. RSI at 46 signals neutral momentum; MACD is flat — no directional conviction. Short-term bias leans toward mild consolidation.
· Silver continues to oscillate between $72–$78.50. Range-bound momentum is expected to persist absent a definitive breakthrough in US-Iran negotiations

Gold prices to range between Rs 1.5-1.8 lakh for remainder of 2026: Report
Indian domestic gold prices are expected to trade in the range of Rs 1,50,000 to Rs 1,80,000 per ten grams over the remainder of 2026, before rising further to a range of Rs 1,60,000 to Rs 1,90,000 per ten grams in 2027. According to a ICICI Bank Global Markets report, this projected price movement is in response to the ongoing uptrend in global gold prices alongside a steady depreciation in the Indian Rupee.
As per the report, the domestic gold market has already rallied by approximately 20 per cent on a year-to-date (YTD) basis. This sharp growth stems primarily from a 7 per cent depreciation of the Rupee so far this year, rising international rates, and the immediate pass-through of recent customs duty hikes.
A further near-term uptick of 2 to 3 per cent remains possible as the local market continues to absorb the impact of the customs duty hike from 6 per cent to 15 per cent, which became effective on May 13, 2026.

Expert View | Ritaban Basu, CEO, B2K Analytics
“The relative calm in West Asia has lifted investor sentiment globally, and for an import-dependent economy like India, cheaper oil is always beneficial. A combination of easing global risk perceptions, softening crude prices, and steady domestic liquidity is providing some much-needed comfort in what remains an uncertain economic environment. Investors are pricing in greater macro stability and improving earnings visibility, with banks, financials, and rate-sensitive sectors drawing the most attention. Domestic institutions and retail investors have supported this resilience, even as foreign funds have remained largely on the selling side.
That said, the conflict that triggered much of this uncertainty has not conclusively ended. Inflation is edging up, and central banks are yet to offer any clear direction. The deeper economic challenges still persist evident from weak external demand, currency pressures, and fiscal headwinds. The near-term picture has improved, and markets are anticipating a gradual strengthening of fundamentals. But uncertainty prevails, and sentiment will remain fragile, hence caution remains warranted.”

Expert View | Akshay Chinchalkar, Managing Partner and Head of Markets Strategy, The Wealth Company
“Talking domestic stocks, and the nifty ended 1.3% up at 24032 in what will be a shot-in-the-arm for bulls. The India VIX finished 6.7% down as the demand for protection slumped. Both the front-month nifty and bank nifty futures saw short covering for a second straight day. Mid- and small-caps also gained. On the NSE500, more than three stocks rose for every stock that dropped. 11 of the main NSE sectors rose, with PSU Banks becoming the best performers as they gained 2.9%. FMCG stocks were the only ones that ended down, slipping 0.2%. Yesterday’s close above 23800 did two things - one, it cleared a major short-term hurdle for the bulls, and also sent prices above “falling channel” resistance. The next zone to monitor will be the 24127 - 24284 area. On the downside, bulls must protect 23834 on a daily closing basis to be able to make an attempt towards critical resistance at 24800.
Now, coming to flows, based on provisional data, foreigners invested 822 cr while domestic players invested just over 3857 cr.
Speaking index options positioning, foreigners remained bullish, prop investors were flat and retail investors stayed bearish.”

Market analysis by Vikram Subburaj, CEO, Giottus.com
Vikram Subburaj said Bitcoin’s recovery remains incomplete as the cryptocurrency continues to trade below the psychologically important $79,000-$80,000 range, with elevated US Treasury yields and weak institutional appetite weighing on sentiment. He noted that persistent outflows from US spot Bitcoin ETFs have made price recoveries harder to sustain, while the broader crypto market remains selective rather than entering a broad-based altcoin rally. According to Subburaj, softer US inflation data, easing bond yields and a return of positive ETF inflows will be critical for Bitcoin to attempt a move towards the $81,000-$83,000 resistance zone in the coming weeks

Indian bonds may extend gains, but fresh US-Iran escalation could reverse moves
Indian bonds may look to add to their winning momentum in opening trades on Tuesday as Brent crude stayed below $100 per barrel, and Treasury yields eased, but the focus remains on an escalation between U.S. and Iran, which could hurt demand.
The benchmark 6.48% 2035 bond yield is expected to move in the 7.00% to 7.06% range, a private bank trader said. It had ended at 7.0270% on Monday. Read more here

Alpex Solar Q4 & FY26 Earnings Call Highlights
FY27 & Future Outlook
▫️ FY27 revenue expected to exceed ₹3,000 Cr, with upside from the 2.2 GW G12R TOPCon cell line commencing commercial production within the next 90 days (by ~August 2026).
💠Management is confident on surpassing guidance meaningfully due to strong execution and cell integration.
💠 Module capacity ramping to 3.6 GW by FY27 (from current 2.4 GW); further expansion to 5–5.5 GW possible with latest technology post-FY28 as utilization tightens by H2 FY28
▫️Cell line (2.2 GW): 80–85% captive use for modules, 15–20% sold/bartered for size compatibility (G12R focus)
💠Peers achieve 35–36% EBITDA on cells — company expects similar, targeting conservative company-wide EBITDA of ~25%+ (PAT >16% on cells) post-integration.
▫️Long-term vision: ₹10,000 Cr revenue by FY2030 through full backward integration.
💠 5 GW solar glass + 5 GW ingot/wafer by FY2030 (phased); pilot 200 MW ingot/wafer by April 2027, scaling to 2.5 GW by June 2028 (timed with ALMM List 3).
💠Aluminum frames expanding 2–3x via internal accruals
▫️ Policy-driven decoupling: ALMM List 2 (cells) from June 2026 and List 3 (wafers/ingots) from 2028 provide tailwinds; full vertical integration (modules + cells + frames + glass + wafers/ingots) positions Alpex as a resilient, high-margin player insulated from Chinese imports and price volatility.
👉 Current Order Book / Projects and Future Pipeline
▫️ Order book of ~₹1,900 Cr; management selectively not booking more orders to prioritize cell line ramp and higher-margin opportunities.
💠 Recent wins: ₹215 Cr high-efficiency module order (Jan 2026, 6-month execution) + ₹41 Cr solar water pumps order from MSEDCL (April 2026).
💠 DCR vs non-DCR mix: Operating in both markets; Q4 saw higher DCR execution (reflected in portal data), with prices expected to strengthen further post-ALMM List 2 implementation in June 2026
▫️ Pipeline remains strong due to domestic demand, government thrust on Aatmanirbhar solar manufacturing, and captive/utility-scale projects.
▫️Cell line will significantly boost order book and execution in FY27.
💠 Kosi integrated campus (9 lakh sq ft) on track — houses cell + module lines + aluminum frames; additional land parcels (incl. 21 acres in Madhya Pradesh) earmarked for future growth.
💠SAP rollout enhances real-time visibility across procurement, inventory, and distribution.

Dollar wobbles as markets cling to hopes for Middle East peace deal
The dollar nursed losses on Tuesday on rising investor optimism of a deal being struck to reopen the crucial Strait of Hormuz and end the three-month-long Iran war, although fresh U.S. attacks on Iranian targets weighed on sentiment. The euro held onto its gains to trade at $1.16365 on Tuesday, while the Japanese yen fetched 158.95 per U.S. dollar. U.S. markets were closed on Monday for a holiday. Against a basket of currencies, the dollar was at 99.031.

Oil Climbs as Iran Peace Hopes Clash With Fresh U.S. Strikes
Oil prices rose on Tuesday and stocks were mixed as investor optimism over an imminent U.S.-Iran peace deal was tempered by new U.S. strikes in the Middle East.
Iran’s top negotiator and its foreign minister were in Doha for talks with Qatar’s prime minister on a potential deal with the U.S. to end the war, an official briefed on the visit said, after Washington and Tehran played down hopes for an imminent breakthrough.
The Nikkei newspaper separately reported that both parties were discussing a plan to open the Strait of Hormuz about 30 days after reaching a deal to end hostilities.
But even as the talks proceeded, U.S. forces conducted strikes on Monday in southern Iran against targets including boats attempting to lay mines and missile launch sites, in what they described as defensive actions.
The developments sent Brent futures rising more than 1% in early Asian trade to $97.32 a barrel. U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude was up slightly from Monday’s last traded price but down 5.5% from Friday’s close. There was no settlement on Monday due to the U.S. Memorial Day holiday.

Brent crude rises nearly 2% as US military strikes Iranian boats, missile launch sites
Brent crude futures rose nearly 2% in early Asian trade on Tuesday after the U.S. military carried out strikes in southern Iran in what it described as defensive actions, keeping markets on edge as a deal to end the war eludes both sides.
Brent futures climbed $1.40, or 1.5%, to $97.56 a barrel as of 0006 GMT, after settling 7% lower in the previous session.
U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude fetched $91.25, up slightly from Monday’s last traded price but down $5.30, or 5.5% from Friday’s close. There was no settlement on Monday due to the U.S. Memorial Day holiday. - Reuters

Market Closing | May 25, 2026
Markets staged a sharp recovery on Monday, driven by a surge in global risk appetite after US President Donald Trump said over the weekend that a peace deal with Iran was “largely negotiated.” The prospect of easing West Asia tensions triggered an aggressive unwinding of the war premium in energy markets, pulling crude oil prices sharply lower and reviving broad-based buying across Dalal Street.
The Nifty 50 closed at 24,031.70, up 312.40 points or 1.32 per cent, after touching an intraday high of 24,054.45 — its first sustained close above the psychologically significant 24,000 mark in recent sessions. The BSE Sensex settled at 76,488.96, gaining 1,073.61 points or 1.42 per cent. The Bank Nifty outperformed, surging 1,238.30 points or 2.29 per cent to close at 55,293.65, breaching the 55,000 level intraday.
The rupee ended at 95.23, up 46 paise from Friday. The currency has appreciated 1.8 per cent from the low it hit last week.
