HyFun Foods has launched a dedicated reefer rail logistics corridor for exports of frozen potato products in partnership with Adani Logistics Ltd and Evergreen Marine Corporation, with each train movement expected to replace up to 40 road trips as the company looks to cut fuel consumption, logistics costs and carbon emissions.
The Gujarat-based frozen food exporter said the initiative marks its first dedicated rail-based cold-chain export operation and forms part of a larger integrated multi-modal logistics strategy combining road, rail and sea transportation.
The reefer rail service will transport frozen products from the inland container depot (ICD) at Virochannagar in Gujarat to Mundra Port, operated by Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ), with onward international shipping being handled by Evergreen Marine Corporation. The inaugural dedicated train service was flagged off on Thursday.
“Today, HyFun Foods exports to more than 40 countries across global markets, and this collaboration will further strengthen our export capabilities by enabling more efficient and sustainably reliable export operations. As we continue to scale our global footprint, this initiative will support our ambition to expand our presence to over 100 countries in the coming years,” Kamlesh Karamchandani, Group Executive Director at HyFun Foods, stated in an official release.
