Kirloskar Brothers Limited (KBL) has strengthened India’s naval capability by contributing critical technology to INS Taragiri, a state-of-the-art stealth-guided missile frigate of the Indian Navy.
The statement issued by the company added that it has supplied precision-engineered canned motor pumps (CMPs), which play a vital role in ensuring the efficiency, safety and reliability of onboard systems. Known for their leak-proof design, low maintenance requirements, and low-noise, low-vibration operation, these pumps are particularly suited for naval applications where operational dependability is critical.
INS Taragiri is part of India’s push towards indigenisation in defence manufacturing and reflects the country’s growing expertise in advanced naval engineering. KBL’s involvement highlights the role of domestic industry in supporting complex defence platforms.
This development builds on KBL’s earlier contributions to several indigenously developed naval vessels, including INS Nilgiri, INS Surat, INS Himgiri, INS Udaygiri and INS Dunagiri. The company has consistently demonstrated its ability to meet the stringent technical and operational requirements of defence projects.
KBL said its continued participation in such initiatives aligns with the Government of India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision, aimed at boosting domestic manufacturing and reducing dependence on imports.
