Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressing the media after releasing the BJP's manifesto for the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections 2026 in Kolkata on Friday

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday unveiled its manifesto for West Bengal, pledging to stop infiltration, implement a Uniform Civil Code and roll out welfare schemes for women, youth and farmers if voted to power in the upcoming Assembly elections.

Releasing the party’s Sankalp Patra in Kolkata, Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah described it as a roadmap for Sonar Bangla, and said the saffron party would drive the State’s development through bharosa (faith). The manifesto promises to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) within six months of coming to power in Bengal. “Several BJP-ruled States have implemented the Uniform Civil Code. Within six months of coming to power, we will implement UCC and ensure that a single, uniform set of laws applies to all citizens across Bengal,” he told a media conference.

end to infiltration

Shah promised to enforce a “detect, delete, deport” policy to seal borders and stop infiltration in the State. He vowed to crackdown on infiltration to ensure national security. “I want to assure the people of the State that if a BJP government is formed, we will implement a detect, delete and deport policy to pick out each and every infiltrator and ensure the safety of the State and the country,” he said.

“We will not only seat West Bengal’s borders for infiltrators, but we will also ensure that not a single cow is smuggled out of our country through the State,” Shah added. Key promises in the manifesto also include implementation of the ₹3,000 monthly financial assistance for women, ₹3,000 support for every unemployed youth, and 7th Pay Commission for government employees.

The party pledged to implement Ayushman Bharat and other Central schemes, alongside free HPV vaccination and breast cancer screening. The party also promised to release white papers on alleged corruption under the Mamata Banerjee-led government and on the State’s law and order situation, alongside fast-track investigations led by retired judges.

“The people in the State are frightened under the Trinamool Congress rure. They want a change. This manifesto is a path to bring every section of Bengal out of despair. The BJP Sankalp Patra will guide farmers, youth and women, giving them a new direction. It will offer renewed hope to every citizen who takes pride in Bengal’s culture and will serve as a roadmap for the creation of Sonar Bangla,” Shah added.
