Posting double-digit growth, the Kerala Postal Circle recorded a 10 per cent rise in revenue in FY 2025–26, marking its first such performance in the post-lockdown period.
Nationally, the Department of Posts achieved 16 per cent revenue growth during the same fiscal year. In April 2026, the Kerala Circle also secured the third position in the country in parcel revenue growth for FY 2026–27.
P.N.Ranjit Kumar, Chief Postmaster General said that the region has introduced several pilot initiatives, including parcel pick-up points, transport of plants and seedlings, and same-day delivery services, along with a revamped mail service network.
Among the new services is “Pick Post Express,” which allows customers to collect Speed Post letters and parcels round-the-clock from designated delivery offices linked to major sorting hubs. The pilot has been launched at Thiruvananthapuram Fort, Ernakulam Head Post Office, and Kozhikode Head Post Office, offering secure OTP and ID-based collection for urgent consignments.
After a successful pilot phase, “Capital Express” has been rolled out as a full-scale commercial service connecting major commercial hubs in Kerala with the State capital. Priority parcels from centres such as Kochi, Kottayam and Kollam now reach Thiruvananthapuram city within 24 hours under a “D+1” delivery model.
To support the horticulture sector, the Circle has also introduced “Green Express,” a premium service for transporting live plants and seedlings within one to two days. Initially piloted in Thiruvananthapuram and nearby areas, it is now being expanded to key agricultural centres including Wayanad, Idukki and Mannuthy in Thrissur district.
In a major logistics shift, Kerala Postal Circle is moving from traditional train-based transit to customized Road Transport Networks (RTNs). Eight legacy train routes are being replaced with 13 RTNs, expected to reduce transit costs by 43 per cent and save nearly ₹6 crore annually while improving delivery speed.
India Post’s operational restructuring is also being supported by the creation of six specialised verticals: Post Office Savings Bank (POSB), Mail Operations, Parcels, International Relations and Global Business (IR&GB), Postal Life Insurance (PLI), and Citizen-Centric Services (CCS).
Under the “Surakshitha Gramam” campaign, India Post is working with Grama Panchayats to ensure universal access to postal, banking and insurance services in rural areas, with a goal of full Postal Life Insurance (PLI) and Rural Postal Life Insurance (RPLI) coverage. The Kerala Circle aims to cover all 941 Grama Panchayats in the State by August 31.
