In a move to curb overcharging, the Mizoram government has announced the launch of 'MizoTaxi,' a mobile application for public transport services designed to ensure passengers pay government-approved fares, officials said.
The app will initially be rolled out in Aizawl city and is set to become operational from July 1, an official release stated.
It is designed to help people using taxis, two-wheeler taxis, and auto-rickshaws verify and pay the correct fares approved by the government.
All four-wheeler taxis, two-wheeler taxis, and auto-rickshaws operating within the state capital have been asked to complete registration on the ‘MizoTaxi’ platform in June, the release said.
Transport operators registering within June will be charged a concessional fee of Rs 600 per year, it said.
