I got an error message when i try to connect SQL Server 2005 Analysis Service:
Cannot connect to Ericz\SQLDEV.
------------------------------
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
A connection cannot be made to redirector. Ensure that 'SQL Browser' service is running. (Microsoft.AnalysisServices.AdomdClient)
------------------------------
No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it (System)
This problem occurs when i install SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition and then install SQL Server Express on my Windows XP box. In this case, i cannot connect to AS any more.
The workaround is
1. Locate the following folder:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Shared\ASConfig
2. Delete all the files in the folder.
3. Restart SQL Server Browser.
4. Restart SQL Server Anaysis Service.
