As Marvel Rivals Season 8 is soon coming to an end, NetEase Games has unveiled its plans, starting with the mid-season update. As we enter the summer season, new summer-themed events and swimsuit skins are coming to the game over the coming weeks. So, check out all the new content arriving in the game based on the new Marvel Rivals Season 8.5 roadmap.
Marvel Rivals Season 8.5 is releasing on June 12, 2026, at 9 AM UTC. The new mid-season update will run until July 10, and then the next Marvel Rivals season (season 9) will kick off. So, here is the full roadmap of Marvel Rivals Season 8.5 shared by the game’s official X account:
The long-awaited X-Men leader, Cyclops, is officially joining the Marvel Rivals hero roster in season 8.5. Cyclops’ role is confirmed to be a Duelist hero, and his entire kit is themed after his Concussive Optic Blasts. He can shoot the optic beams in distinct ways, such as straight, ricocheting, and more. He may have a simple kit, but he is bound to wreak havoc across the battlefield.
A new 18 v 18 Bounty Annihilation game mode is also coming to Marvel Rivals. So a new map called “K’un-Lun: Shenloong Arena” is being added to the game. In addition, a new Shenloong Tournament event will also kick off during the new season launch, and you can unlock a free Groot skin.
The Earth 616 Day Vault is finally opening again. This time, players who missed their chance can buy limited-time skins and event passes from the previous seasons. Moreover, Cyclops, Phoenix, and Magik’s new premium costumes are coming to the stores on the season 8.5 launch day. A new Jean Grey Plush will also be available in stores.
In addition to Times Square, NetEase is adding to another social hub set on a beach called Hellfire Bay Beach during the first content drop in Marvel Rivals Season 8.5. Alongside, we will be celebrating the all-new Rivals’ Summer Festival ’26, where we can complete missions to earn up to 2500 Units.
Another Cyclops-based event called X-Press Juice is also coming to the game, allowing us to earn even more Units. If you are eyeing Spidey or Cloak and Dagger‘s swimsuits, you will have to purchase the new Krakoan Reels event pass. However, Emma Frost and Doctor Strange’s swimsuit costumes will be available in stores along with the Black Panther and Storm’s “Head Over Heels” emote.
The second content drop in Marvel Rivals Season 8.5 is small in comparison to the previous one. Black Widow and Daredevil are getting their first swimsuit skins. A new beach party, Uplifting Welcome, is on the cards as well, but NetEase hasn’t disclosed details about the event yet. Stay tuned!
The last content drop arriving in Marvel Rivals Season 8.5 is the final set of swimsuit costumes. Lady Loki, White Fox, and Captain America swimsuit skins will be available in stores on July 3, 2026.
Finally, we have a fixed release date for Marvel Rivals Season 9. The next season is confirmed to be released on July 10, 2026. NetEase hasn’t given any clues regarding the new heroes joining in season 9. However, the leaked Marvel Rivals characters list suggests that The Hood and Jubilee will be our new heroes. Jubilee is expected to be a Strategist, and The Hood will likely be a Duelist. So, let’s wait and see.
