Epic Games is continuing its streak of modernising classic Fortnite cosmetics for both old and new players. This time, the developers have added the Fortnite Kyo Sidekick, another recreation of a beloved cosmetic from the Chapter 1 days of the game. You can only unlock the Kyo Fortnite Sidekick for free if you own the original Kyo pet back bling from Chapter 1 Season 9. The back bling was released as part of the Chapter 1 Season 9 Battle Pass, being available at tier 28. Now, players can use this tech-based pet as a full-fledged Sidekick that accompanies them throughout a match. This is similar to how Epic has approached other pet-turned-Sidekicks like the Kitsune and Empress Sidekicks.

To get the Kyo Sidekick for free, follow the steps given below:

• Log in to Fortnite with the account that owns the original Kyo back bling from Chapter 1 Season 39.
• Upon logging in, the game should automatically grant you the Kyo Sidekick. If you do not receive the notification, you can head to your Fortnite locker and sort your collection by Sidekicks. Here, you should see the new Kyo Sidekick.

Once you have the Kyo Sidekick in your library, you can customize it according to your tastes and then equip it before heading into a Battle Royale, Zero Build, or even LEGO Fortnite. Remember, you do not have to complete any Fortnite quests to earn the Kyo Sidekick. If you own the original Chapter 1 Season 9 back bling, you will automatically receive the new Sidekick.

If you don’t own the Kyo back bling from Chapter 1 Season 9, don’t fret! The Kyo Sidekick will also be available in the Fortnite Item Shop soon, so you can obtain it through the storefront. However, remember, you have to pay 1,200 V-Bucks to purchase the Sidekick.
