You can keep waiting and hope he gets banned in every competitive match. But that’s not going to happen! So, here are our best hero picks to counter the new Duelist Cyclops in Marvel Rivals.

Cyclops‘ main weakness is that he struggles in close-range fights, and remember that he only has 275 HP. His abilities cannot directly save him in a close-combat battle, as he can only flee away from one using his movement abilities to push himself and others. With that in mind, you can pick these Marvel Rivals characters to finish off Cyclops:

Spider-Man

A lord Spider-Man is always a nightmare for every single hero on the battlefield. You don’t have to be a Spider-Man lord in Marvel Rivals to take down Cyclops. However, Spidey’s kit helps you quickly close the gap and catch him off guard.

Even if Cyclops flees away, Spider-Man can still chase him by swinging through the arena, diving, and killing him with a quick combo like Web Cluster (right click) > Get Over Here! (E)> Amazing Combo (F) > Spider-Power (left click). Cyclops cannot simply escape from Spidey’s lightning-fast combo attacks!

Captain America

The good-old Cap is a reliable counter to Cyclops in Marvel Rivals Season 8.5. Captain America’s main job is to dive into the enemy area and torture the hitscan heroes and the supports. A good Captain America can easily pin down Cyclops and continue hitting him with his shield to eliminate him.

It’s tough to outrun Cap as he will always be behind you. Learn a simple combo like Vibranium Energy Saw (E) > Liberty Rush (F) > Sentinel Strikes (left click), to put constant pressure on Cyclops. If you can keep chasing him and repeat the combo, then you can kill him with ease.

Iron Fist

Next up, we have the Protector of K’un-Lun, Iron Fist, who is a great counter to Cyclops. Cyclops can run all he wants, but Iron Fist is one of the main characters who can keep up with Cyclops’ pace and catch him.

He was buffed in Marvel Rivals season 8 and thankfully hasn’t been nerfed yet. Check out the complete buffs and nerfs in season 8.5. Even if Cyclops tries to bury Iron Fist with his Optic Blasts, Iron Fist can actually parry the beams. So, boost your health with Harmony Recovery, then leap into the battlefield with the Crane Leap ability (space). Parry his laser beams with Dragon’s Defense (right click). Then begin your counter-attack!

So, your regular Iron Fist should be something like: Crane Leap (space) > Dragon’s Defense (right click) >Yat Jee Chung Kuen (right click) > Jeet Kune Do (left click) > K’un-Lun Kick (L Shift). Therefore, Iron Fist is a great option to pick if you plan on hunting down Cyclops in competitive matches. He is the most suited one for you if you have experience playing as Iron Fist, i.e., if you know about how to parry and make the best use of his attacks.

Hulk

Fellow Marvel Rivals players’ best advice to counter Cyclops is“Just jump him, bro.” So, a perfect hero for jumping on Cyclops and beating him to a pulp is Hulk. This big guy is simply incredible against Cyclops.

You can mark him and jump on using Hulk’s leap ability. Stun him before he runs, and keep smashing him with your melee attacks. So, follow this combo to kill Cyclops if you are playing Hulk: Incredible Leap (space) > Radioactive Lockdown (E) > Gamma Burst (right click) > Heavy Blow (left click) > Gamma Burst (right click).

Even if Cyclops pushes you back with his Propulsion Burst ability, Hulk can easily leap in the air once again and close the space. So, whether you are picking up Hulk or your teammate is, make sure to have a Hulk in the lineup at all costs.

Angela

We have another Vanguard who is a solid counter to Cyclops, and it is none other than Angela. She was recently buffed in the Marvel Rivals Season 8.5 update. Angela’s shields will protect her against Cyclops’ optic beams. She can get near him, perform her charge attack to separate him from his crew, get on the ground, and finish him with her axe attacks.

Angela excels at close-range fights, and she can always flee with her flying ability in case things go wrong. But the shield and charge attacks are tailor-made for blocking laser beams and cornering Cyclops in Marvel Rivals.
