Minecraft is constantly evolving, and the Chaos Cubed update introduces a brand-new block called Potent Sulfur. In fact, these blocks play a central role in making the new Sulfur Caves biome far more dangerous than regular underground areas. Items Required to Craft Potent Sulfur in Minecraft

The Sulfur Caves biome from the Minecraft Chaos Cubed update introduces radiant sulfur deposits, toxic pools, a new Sulfur Cube mob, and the Potent Sulfur blocks.

You can either craft the Potent Sulfur block or mine naturally generating blocks to obtain them. So, let’s look at all the items required to craft Potent Sulfur in Minecraft:

You can get the new Sulfur blocks in Minecraft by visiting the Sulfur Caves biome that generates underground within the stone layers. Alternatively, you can find the Sulfur Springs on the surface first, mine a few blocks, and then dig down to reach the Sulfur Cave biome as well.

Minecraft Potent Sulfur Block Crafting Recipe

After you have obtained the Sulfur blocks, all you need is a crafting table in Minecraft. Once you place the crafting table, right-click to open its UI, and follow the steps below:

• Place nine Sulfur blocks in all the cells of the crafting table.
• Once you do it, the Potent Sulfur block will show on the right.
• Drag and drop the Potent Sulfur block into your inventory.

How to Obtain Potent Sulfur Block in Minecraft Naturally

Apart from crafting Potent Sulfur blocks, you can find it right inside the Sulfur Pools and Springs in Minecraft. So, the first step is to locate a Sulfur Cave biome or simply a Sulfur Spring on the surface of the Overworld.

Consider exploring areas near your Minecraft seed base and look out for the greenish-blue pools of water that emit pale yellow fumes. Note that yellow Sulfur and red Cinnabar blocks surround these pools.

So, identifying these pools from a distance is quite easy. Moreover, you can dig down into these Sulfur Springs to find the Sulfur Cave biome underground.

You can find Potent Sulfur blocks right below the water on either the Sulfur Pool or a Sulfur Spring. However, beware of stepping into these waters as the toxic gases can apply the Nausea effect and disorient your vision. I suggest using a few blocks to isolate the water, or a couple of sponge blocks to absorb it before you go ahead and mine Potent Sulfur.

Then, you can step into the dried pool and mine the yellow Potent Sulfur block that looks brighter than the others and has a cleaner texture.

Mine it using any pickaxe, and the Potent Sulfur block will drop as an item. Also, note that breaking the block with your bare hand drops nothing. Furthermore, the Fortune enchantment in Minecraft doesn’t have any effect on drop rates.

Best Uses of Potent Sulfur in Minecraft

The Potent Sulfur has a unique interaction with water in Minecraft. When you add a Potent Sulfur block as the base of a water pool, it starts emitting a noxious gas. This isn’t just a visual effect but has real gameplay consequences.

When any entity, such as Minecraft mobs or even you, enters this noxious pool of water, they receive the Nausea effect. This causes your screen to wobble and distort for the entire time you’re present in that toxic pool of water. Moreover, the effect persists, and your vision keeps getting worse as long as you stay in the area.

So, you can use this block to create underwater traps in Minecraft to confuse the enemies, create puzzle maps where players must navigate through these toxic zones, or even some decorative builds to mimic real-life hot springs.
