Minecraft Sulfur Cube Mob Guide: Location, Breeding, and ...
Bipradeep Biswas · 2026-06-02 · via Beebom

The Sulfur Cube might be the most bizarre and the most creative Minecraft mob of all time, and it’s releasing with the Chaos Cubed update. Imagine a slime, but instead of just bouncing around, it can literally consume blocks to change its properties. This might sound absurd to you, but it is true. So, let’s learn everything about the Sulfur Cube mob in Minecraft, including its location, all the blocks it can consume, and its properties.

What Are the Minecraft Sulfur Cube Mobs

The Sulfur Cube is a unique slime-type passive mob found in the Sulfur Cave biome, introduced in the Minecraft Chaos Cubed update.

They look no different from the green slimes or crimson magma cubes from the game. The only difference is they are pale yellow in color and have a clueless expression.

What sets this Sulfur slime cube block apart from other slimes is its absorption ability. It can absorb blocks into its body, and they affect its physical properties. These properties are categorized into 12 archetypes depending on the block they consume.

These archetypes of the Sulfur Cube affect the mob’s friction, bounciness, air drag, and knockback resistance.

That said, if you want to bring the Sulfur Cube back to its original form, simply remove the block it consumed using a pair of Minecraft Shears on the mob.

Where to Find Sulfur Cube in Minecraft

Now, finding a Sulfur Cube isn’t that simple because they do not wander around the regular caves in Minecraft. These mobs are tied to the Sulfur Caves biome that is coming to the stable version in the Minecraft Chaos Cubed update.

These caves are deep underground, and you can recognize them easily from the distinct yellow and red color palette. The warm tone of the Sulfur Cave biome is created from the Sulfur and Cinnabar blocks.

Apart from mining and exploring the cave structures, you can look out for the Sulfur Springs that generate on top of the surface in the Overworld. These springs include yellow Sulfur and red Cinnabar blocks along with toxic gas emerging from the water surface. Digging beneath these Sulfur Springs grants you the best chances of finding a Sulfur Cave.

What Blocks Can a Minecraft Sulfur Cube Absorb?

This is where the Sulfur Cubes go from just an interesting mob to an absolute game-changer. The type of block a Sulfur Cube absorbs determines its behavior. These behaviors are categorized into archetypes.

Each archetype can modify how the Sulfur Cube will move when hit or pushed. These archetypes primarily change four attributes of the Sulfur Cube, including the speed, bounciness, ground friction, and air drag.

That said, here are all the Minecraft Sulfur Cube archetypes and the blocks consumed:

How to Duplicate Sulfur Cube Mob in Minecraft

This new mob can have such utility in Minecraft, so you must be thinking if there is a way to breed Sulfur Cube. Well, technically, there is no way to breed Sulfur Cubes, unlike how you would breed horses in Minecraft.

But there is a simple way to get more Sulfur Cubes from a single one.

When you kill a large Sulfur Cube, it splits into two smaller Sulfur Cubes. However, the latter don’t drop anything when killed. Over time, the smaller cubes grow back into two full-sized Sulfur Cubes, allowing you to multiply their population.

Now, if you don’t want to wait, you can speed up the process by feeding slimeballs to the Sulfur Cube. However, if you have different plans and the smaller Sulfur Cubes seem cute to you, consider feeding them a Golden Dandelion to keep them young forever.

How to Transport a Sulfur Cube in Minecraft

Another unique interaction with this new mob occurs when using an empty bucket. If navigating through the caves seems to be a tough task, use an empty bucket to pick up the Sulfur Cube mob and bring it to your base on the best Minecraft seeds.

Moreover, you can use this bucket of Sulfur Cube inside a dispenser to spawn them right from the buckets. This opens a door to automated farms where you can create Minecraft redstone builds for Sulfur Cube minigames and more.

Other than transporting them in buckets, you can always leash them up using a lead in Minecraft and drag them anywhere. However, that would require you to make these Sulfur Cubes consume a block first.

So, what minigames do you plan to make using the Sulfur Cube in Minecraft? Share your ideas in the comments below.

Can Sulfur Cubes take damage after absorbing a block?

Once a Sulfur Cube absorbs a block, it becomes resistant to most types of damage, like melee attacks, projectiles, and fall damage. But it can take damage from fire, suffocation, or poison.
