Diem25.org: Global Convoy to Cuba to Converge in Havana on March 21 An international coalition of movements, trade unionists, parliamentarians, humanitarian organisations and public figures iniiiated by the Progressive International will deliver humanitarian aid by air, land and sea, converging in Havana on 21 March. The mission builds on the spirit of the Global Sumud Flotilla to Gaza. nuestraamericaconvoy.org

David Adler, organiser of the mission, stated: “When governments enforce collective punishment, ordinary people have a responsibility to act… break the siege, bring food and medicine, and show that solidarity can cross any border, land, or sea.” US Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib condemned the policy as one of cruelty that “does not speak for the people of the United States.” Jeremy Corbyn argued that “people across the world must stand with the Cuban people, oppose these punitive policies, and demand the right of every nation to live, develop, and determine its own future free from intimidation.”

TeleSur: Trump Seeks to Deepen Cuba’s Reliance on U.S. Energy Supplies The U.S. oil blockade has worsened living conditions in Cuba, a country that may face a humanitarian crisis. The Trump administration believes that the worsening energy crisis will pressure Cuba to accept oil under U.S. control. Recently, Cuba began allowing private companies to import fuel under strict conditions, although shipments remain limited.

Cuba Debate: UN High Commissioner for Human Rights condemns U.S. measures against Cuba: “Nothing justifies the asphyxiation of an entire population” The United Nations High Commissioner Volker Türk, spoke against the measures imposed by the US that restrict Cuba’s access to oil, and warned of the serious consequences that these actions have for the population. During his speech at the Human Rights Council, Türk pointed directly to the measures adopted by Washington to aggravate the crisis facing Cuba. “Nothing can justify the asphyxiation of an entire population.”

National Nurses United: U.S. blockade on Cuba is creating a humanitarian crisis The U.S. blockade on Cuba is creating a humanitarian crisis. Nurses won’t be silent when U.S. policies cause suffering anywhere. We demand an end to the blockade and a foreign policy that lets the Cuban people – not Washington – decide their future.

Marjorie Cohn: Trump’s Cruelty Is Strangling Cuba — Its Oil Reserves Could Be Empty by March UN human rights experts called Trump’s order “a serious violation of international law” and “an extreme form of unilateral economic coercion with extraterritorial effects, through which the United States seeks to exert coercion on the sovereign state of Cuba and compel other sovereign third States to alter their lawful commercial relations, under threat of punitive trade measures.”  Although Trump has effectively blackmailed other countries, including Mexico, into halting their deliveries of oil to Cuba, Sheinbaum sent two shipments of humanitarian aid and has pledged to send more. The 67 year US blockade itself cost Cuba $7.5 billion in 2025. Since 1960, it has cost Cuba $170 billion.

In 1996, Bill Clinton signed the Helms-Burton Act, which codified the embargo against trade with and investment in Cuba, so that no president could unilaterally lift the sanctions. Title III of the Act allows U.S. citizens to bring lawsuits against U.S. and foreign entities for allegedly “trafficking” in property confiscated in Cuba since 1959. Two Title III lawsuits decisions are now pending in the Supreme Court, having heard arguments in the cases on February 23.

Venezuela

Orinoco Tribune: Rejecting Defeatism: Why Negotiation is Not Betrayal in the Face of US Imperialist Aggression Against Venezuela Currently, defeatism and dangerous myths regarding the Venezuelan government are being promoted even by allies, anti-imperialists, and alt-journalists. These actors are spreading narratives written in the halls of Langley and Washington about the Venezuelan government, while ostensibly claiming to support the Bolivarian Revolution. This narrative must be understood as a form of defeatism which is actively propagated by the enemy as a form of psychological and informational warfare to sap the strength of the revolution and fracture the support of international solidarity.

[The article then addresses key issues in the Venezuela disinformation campaign.] Venezuela is outgunned, lacking hypersonic missiles or regional military allies. Refusing negotiation would lead to starvation, new US military strikes, or collapse as a republic. The enemy works actively to spread defeatism and promote an image that it is undefeatable. We must combat that enemy propaganda and defend the revolution in the field of media and information space.

Maria Paez Victor: Venezuela: ‘For Now’ (Por Ahora) President Maduro showed his mettle when brought before a court in New York and asked to identify himself. He calmly and clearly stated his name and that he was the president of Venezuela and was a prisoner of war, kidnapped from his home by the US military. That court has no authority whatsoever to judge a prisoner of war, let alone a legitimate head of state of a foreign country. The initial charges had to be withdrawn as the Department of Justice had to admit, finally, that the drug cartel that President Maduro was supposed to be the leader of has never existed. The trial has been postponed while the prosecutors scramble to invent other false accusations to make against him.

However, the bombing and kidnapping in the end failed to achieve its main goal: to topple the Bolivarian government. Again, the US thought that if the leader was eliminated, the Bolivarian government would collapse. It did not. There was no “regime change.” The entire government cadre stayed in place. The Bolivarian Revolution proved it was not a façade but is deeply embedded in Venezuelan political life and culture. Granted, Venezuelans have had to negotiate with a gun pointed at their heads and at the heads of their president and first lady.

Peoples Dispatch: Amnesty law comes into force in Venezuela  The law does not cover those who have committed serious human rights violations, crimes against humanity, and war crimes. Nor does it include those who have committed murder, drug trafficking, or corruption. The law makes special mention of not pardoning those who “have promoted, instigated, requested, invoked, favored, facilitated, financed, or participated in armed actions or acts of force against the people, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Venezuela.” This includes those who have invoked invasions or promoted illegal sanctions.”

Orinoco Tribune: Delcy Rodríguez Requests That Trump End Sanctions and Blockade Against Venezuela Delcy said, “Yesterday, [Trump] said he was a friend and partner of Venezuela, and I celebrate and welcome that concept for Venezuela… I hope, and it is the feeling of Venezuelans, that as friends, the blockade and sanctions against Venezuela cease. Our young people have the right to reclaim their aspirations. Our workers have the right to fair wages and incomes for themselves and for their families,” the Chavista leader said at a meeting with young people at the Teresa Carreño Theater in Caracas.

Venezuelanalysis: Trump Administration Mandates Venezuelan Oil Royalties, Taxes Be Paid to US-Run Accounts Washington has imposed control over Venezuelan crude exports, with proceeds deposited in US Treasury-run accounts before being partially returned to Caracas. The mandate reinforces the White House’s control over Venezuelan crude export revenues in the wake of the January 3 military assault and the US naval blockade. At least US $500 million, out of an initial deal estimated at $2 billion, have been returned to Venezuela. Venezuelan authorities have also reported the import of medicines and medical equipment from US manufacturers using unblocked funds.

President Maduro asks for dismissal of case after U.S. denies him license to pay for his defense Venezuelan President Maduro asked through his lawyer, Barry Pollack, that the drug trafficking and corruption case against him in the US be dismissed after the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) denied him the license to allow the Government of Venezuela to fund the defense.
