There are a few sartorial signifiers that summer is upon us. And the swift turn to white in all our outfits serves as a pivotal one. So, it’s no wonder our favorite it girls were all seen out in all-white looks within 48 hours of each other.

From Taylor Swift to Simone Ashley, and Alix Earle, all-white outfits means we’ve officially arrived in the summer months, and it often leads the monochromatic charge through August and into early September.

Historically, wearing white during summer was meant to signify that you lived a life of leisure. I’ve always deemed all-white as a cool-girl fashion choice, especially in major cities. When you see someone in head-to-toe white, you immediately wonder if they have any concerns about stains and dirt (I know I would). Instead, their monochromatic moment proves they’re spending more time lounging and strolling over rushing around. (Something we all hope to be doing this summer.)

In the last few years, all-white ensemble have been dubbed part of the “vanilla girl” aesthetic, which leans into minimalism and off-white, cream, and egg-shelled colored outfits; the quintessential pieces for a chic summer capsule.

While out in New York City on May 12, Taylor Swift tapped into the seasonal color trend wearing a high-neck and long-sleeved pleated dress from Retrofete. She paired the look with a small Dior purse and Gucci slingback heels.

On May 13, actress Simone Ashley was seen at the Hotel Martinez during the 79th annual Cannes Film Festival wearing a white, crinkled knit tank dress from Toteme, with an off-white draped satin tench. She finished off the look with a pair of Toteme black slingback Mary Janes.

While celebrating her Sports Illustrated cover, Alix Earle stepped out in New York City wearing a white midi-length dress with cutouts on the sides of her ribcage. She paired the look with a matching pointed toe heel and some oversized black sunglasses.
