140 Questions to Ask Your Crush, Recommended by Relations...
2026-05-02 · via Latest Content - Cosmopolitan

Figuring out what to say to someone you like shouldn’t feel this complicated, and yet…here we are. Whether you’re texting, on a first date, or stuck in that in-between “are we flirting or just being friendly?” phase, knowing which questions to ask your crush can make a huge difference in how the conversation actually flows.

Because yes, chemistry matters—but so does being able to hold a conversation that goes beyond “how was your day?” Asking the right questions can help you get a better sense of who someone is, what they care about, and whether there’s something worth exploring there. The goal isn’t to interrogate them or force a deep connection too fast—it’s to keep things moving in a way that feels natural, engaging, and (hopefully) a little fun.

That’s where this list comes in. These questions to ask your crush range from easy, low-stakes prompts to slightly deeper ones that can spark more meaningful conversations (when the timing feels right). Relationship coach Carmel Jones says the key is choosing questions that help you connect without making it feel like a job interview—which, fair.

And while you don’t need to get into heavy topics right away, building a real connection does come down to communication over time. “I think if you go in with an open mind, you’re friendly and keep things simple, and you listen, that’s really important,” says conversation expert Debra Roberts, president of The Relationship Protocol.

Ready to start talking? Here are a few questions to get the conversation going.
