At long last, the Love Island USA season 8 cast is reportedly dropping today (!!), but not without a stern warning first from the Love Island headquarters. On May 27, the official Love Island USA Instagram account published a statement asking fans to “keep it kind” ahead of the cast reveal…which is definitely not the first time this has happened.
“The Villa runs on good vibes, and so does this community,” the message read. “We love seeing your reactions, opinions, and debates, but everyone deserves to feel safe and respected.”
The message continued, “This is a space for fun, not negativity—so keep it kind, keep it positive, and remember: this is LOVE Island!”
Some fans had a good laugh over this (“LMAO not them giving us a talking to before the cast comes out,” one fan wrote, while another commented, “when love island headquarters pulls us for a chat”), while others found the need to remind people to be civil kinda depressing. As one person wrote: “Hate that we have to have a PSA, new fans please stop ruining my show.”
BTW, if you’re having déjà vu, that’s likely because the Love Island USA Instagram account shared a very similar message last June during season 7 (possibly in response to Huda Mustafa’s ex, Noah Sheline, posting on social media to remind fans that “she’s still human, she has a daughter, and a life”).
The official statement (which also appeared onscreen during the June 23 episode) read, “We appreciate the fans, the passion for the series, and the amazing group of Islanders who are sharing their summer with us. Please just remember they’re real people—so let’s be kind and spread the love!”
Moral of the story: It’s reality TV, it’s heavily edited, and at the end of the day, it’s not that deep. So maybe we can be a little nicer, mmkay? (Or at the very least, not leave angry and mean comments directly on people’s pages.)
