Does ‘Supergirl’ Have Any Post-Credit Scenes?
Leah Marilla Thomas · 2026-06-28 · via Latest Content - Cosmopolitan

Headed to see Supergirl in theaters and trying to plan out your day with precision? Or are you very nosy and wondering what Supergirl tees up for Man of Tomorrow? Is Kara Zor-El’s heroic journey not enough for you? I see how it is. Regardless, here’s the 411 on whether or not Supergirl has a post-credits scene.

Supergirl flew into theaters on Friday, June 26, 2026. It is the second in a new franchise from DC Studios after James Gunn’s Superman. The sequel to that movie, Man of Tomorrow, will come out next summer.

Should I stay for the Supergirl credits?

You do not have to! There are not any post-credit or mid-credit scenes attached to Supergirl. No teases, cameos, or Krypto shenanigans. Feel free to get up and go at any time.

Spoilers ahead if you haven’t seen the movie! In an interview with Polygon, director Craig Gillespie said that they almost chose to put the scene where Kara shows up at Clark’s apartment and tells him she’s going to stick around in the credits. They decided instead to make it the final scene of the film.

On one hand, it’s kind of smart that Supergirl doesn’t have a post-credits scene. It’s clear that, as Co-CEO of DC Studios, James Gunn is trying to avoid the pitfalls of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with this new superhero franchise. The MCU got way too into teasing what’s next. There was a point where audiences would be more excited to see what was after a new Marvel movie than to see the movie itself. That’s not good! So, I’m fine with DC movies releasing the reigns on that expectation a bit.

However, on the other hand, since comic book movies are so known for post-credit scenes these days, it does seem like DC Studios is saying Supergirl is not important or “necessary” for fans to watch. I’m not saying they do think that! But optics are optics.

Ultimately, it is fine. What are the post-credits going to say? “Supergirl will return in Man of Tomorrow”?! We already know that she will. Milly Alcock is confirmed to be in the Superman sequel. Kara’s story will continue in this universe. That’s a given! The afore-mentioned final scene in the film makes it even more obvious.

Sure, the movie could have teased a new character–like whoever Adria Arjona is playing–or maybe even handed off the baton to the Lanterns series in the post-credits. But it’s not their movie, is it? It belongs to Kara, and she should get the last word.
