The BeyHive must be buzzing, because Barbie Ferreira just seemingly confirmed that Beyoncé’s highly sought-after Renaissance visuals may have existed at one point. Fans have been demanding visuals for the project ever since the Grammy-winner dropped her Act I album back in 2022, and now, Barbie is coming through with some details.

During a May 1 appearance on Owen Thiele’s In Your Dreams podcast, Barbie opened up about participating in projects in fear that they would never see the light of day. “There were times when I thought, ‘This is never going to come out,’” she said, adding that she worked on a confidential project with Queen Bey a few years back.

“I did a Beyoncé music video about three and a half years ago, and it still hasn’t been released. I’ve kind of accepted that no one will ever see it. It was during Renaissance—it was the ‘Thique’ video—and it was so cool,” Barbie dished, to which Owen (rightfully) responded, “What?! That’s insane!”

The Mile End Kicks star offered up more details, including the stacked lineup of collaborators on the visual. “It was a bunch of really cool girls. It was like Shygirl, Carmen Electra, Megan Thee Stallion, Precious [Lee] was in it,” she shared of the project, which she also claimed was directed by Nadia Lee Cohen.

“It’s been over four years since Renaissance. I swear to God, I’ve been holding onto hope this whole time. But I think this is the moment I finally accept that I’m not going to be in the Beyoncé video,” Barbie joked.

Back in September 2024, Beyoncé revealed why she hadn’t dropped visuals for Renaissance or Cowboy Carter during a rare interview with GQ.

“I thought it was important that during a time where all we see is visuals, that the world can focus on the voice,” she said at the time. “The music is so rich in history and instrumentation. It takes months to digest, research, and understand. The music needed space to breathe on its own.”

She added that, at times, videos can shift focus from the work that goes into the music that leads them.

“Sometimes a visual can be a distraction from the quality of the voice and the music,” Bey explained. “The years of hard work and detail put into an album that takes over four years! The music is enough.”

The visuals have yet to be revealed, if at all, but it’s important to note that fans are anticipating Bey’s Act III album announcement when she makes her first appearance at the Met Gala in a decade on Monday, May 4.
