Now, he’s re-entering his rom-com era as the leading man in Netflix’s Voicemails for Isabelle alongside Zoey Deutch. But you’re probably wondering: Does Nick have a real-life romance? While it’s unclear what his relationship status is at the moment, the actor has had at least one long-term girlfriend (that the internet knows about anyway).
Nick dated musician Samantha Urbani—who you may recognize from her collabs with Blood Orange—for at least five years, and while it’s not clear when or why (or, honest, even if!) the two split, I do know a thing or two about their relationship. Brush up on his real-life romance with Samantha by scrolling through their relationship timeline.
Buckle up, because Nick and Samantha’s meet-cute is something straight out of a rom-com—except it actually happened. According to an Instagram post celebrating their fifth anniversary, the pair met while playing a game of spin the bottle with friends on Valentine’s Day in 2019.
She revealed that she had actually met Nick in Berlin a few years prior, but that they ended up going to a taping of Saturday Night Live and had a nightcap at Ukrainian eatery, Veselka.
While Nick and Samantha maintained a pretty private relationship, he started opening up about her during interviews in late 2020.
“My girlfriend and I both actually caught COVID in New York in March,” he said while promoting his show, A Teacher, during an interview with Variety. “Luckily it was very mild. We had some fevers and we lost our senses of taste and smell.”
In a separate interview with InStyle, he also shared a long (and, honestly, not great) joke that she had previously told him.
That same month, Samantha supported Nick and his show by posting a photo with his billboard. “First time I’ve seen my bf in 3 months,” she wrote at the time.
Samantha posted a v fun photo dump featuring several shots of Nick (and Lil Nas X meeting Madonna) in New York. Iconique!
The pair made a rare public appearance for a screening of A Star Is Born at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery.

Nick openly supported Samantha as she dropped her solo album, SHOWING UP, and headed on tour. Here he is rocking some of her merch:
He was also spotted snapping pics with fans during one of her shows!
A few months before the album dropped, Nick shared a rare (and since-deleted) Instagram post encouraging fans to check out his girlfriend’s album, writing, in part, “I’ve been off Instagram for awhile but wanted to pop back on to share. I’ve watched Samantha make this album over the last four years. I’ve seen the work that she has put into each and every track. It’s a beautiful representation of her.”
The pair was photographed during the Snow Lodge Revolve Apre Ski event at The Snow Lodge.

Samantha dropped a selfie in which she very much referred to herself as “grown ass single woman” in the caption, sparking breakup rumors…and though neither has actually confirmed their split, it does seem as though the two are done.
Welp, it was fun while it lasted!!
