Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal announced that India and Canada are aiming to triple bilateral trade to USD 50 billion by 2030 as both countries push to revive economic ties and fast-track the proposed Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). Speaking during his Canada visit alongside International Trade Minister Maninder Sidhu, Goyal said both nations are working to conclude the trade pact by the end of 2026. Discussions focused on critical minerals, energy security, resilient supply chains, infrastructure investments, technology cooperation, and stronger business partnerships. India is also exploring opportunities for importing gas, fuel, and critical minerals from Canada, while seeking long-term investments from major Canadian pension funds and businesses. The visit marks a major step in resetting India-Canada relations after recent diplomatic tensions and signals a renewed focus on trade, investment, and strategic cooperation.
