A political controversy has emerged in Tamil Nadu following the swearing-in ceremony of the new state government. The dispute centers on the sequence of songs played during the official event. Contrary to the established convention of playing the state anthem first, it was played third, following Vande Mataram and the national anthem. Opposition parties have criticized the new administration, alleging a departure from state traditions and suggesting a political alignment with the central ruling party. In response to the mounting criticism, a state minister clarified that the ceremony was conducted under the authority of the governor. The minister assured that the traditional protocol would be maintained in the future and the state anthem would be restored to its initial position at official events. Other political factions have also demanded a formal explanation from the newly elected chief minister regarding the responsibility for the altered sequence on the first day of the new administration.
