Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras and a member of the National Security Advisory Board, highlighted a potential vulnerability in Telegram that could have serious implications. Using a live example, he showed how a PDF file sent at 3:39 PM could later be replaced with an entirely different document while retaining the original timestamp. Prof. Kamakoti stressed that he was deliberately withholding the exact method to prevent misuse, calling it an act of responsible disclosure. He cautioned users against treating Telegram messages as foolproof digital evidence and warned students and the public against being misled by manipulated "paper leak" claims circulating online. "Please be very careful," he said.
