The Broadcasting Media and Communications Commission appointed new members to seven statutory committees in the fields of viewers, broadcasting disputes, advertising, and competition assessment on the 20th.
The newly formed committees on this day include the ▲Viewer Rights Protection Committee, ▲Broadcasting Dispute Mediation Committee, ▲Universal Viewing Rights Guarantee Committee, ▲Broadcasting Advertising Balanced Development Committee, ▲Broadcasting Evaluation Committee, ▲Media Diversity Committee, ▲Broadcasting Market Competition Situation Evaluation Committee, etc.
Established under Article 35 of the Broadcasting Act, the Viewer Rights Protection Committee is a statutory committee that performs duties such as collecting viewer opinions, deliberating complaints and petitions, and protecting viewer rights and interests. Standing Committee member Koh Min-soo will serve as the chairperson for a one-year term.
The Broadcasting Dispute Mediation Committee, where Commissioner Ryu Shin-hwan will serve as chairperson for a two-year term, is responsible for efficiently mediating conflicts and disputes related to broadcasting business operations, such as disputes between broadcasters and external production companies regarding the supply and demand of broadcasting programs.
The Universal Viewing Rights Guarantee Committee, chaired by Standing Committee Member Koh Min-soo, performs the duty of deliberating on matters such as the selection of events of public interest and the revision of Korea Communications Commission (KCC) rules related to guaranteeing universal viewing rights, and making recommendations to the KCC.
The Broadcasting Advertising Balanced Development Committee, chaired by Professor Shim Mi-seon of Soonchunhyang University, deliberates on the evaluation of the performance of bundled sales of broadcasting advertisements, matters necessary for the balanced development of local and small broadcasting advertisements, and makes recommendations to the KCC.
The Broadcasting Evaluation Committee, chaired by Yoon Seong-ok, a member of the KCC, performs duties such as comprehensively evaluating and deliberating on the content, scheduling, and operation of broadcast programs by broadcasters, and proposing amendments to the Broadcasting Evaluation Rules to the KCC.

The Media Diversity Committee, chaired by Commissioner Choi Soo-young, will carry out duties such as calculating broadcasters' audience share and conducting research and studies to promote diversity of public opinion.
The Broadcasting Market Competition Assessment Committee, chaired by Commissioner Lee Sang-geun, performs duties such as analyzing and evaluating competition in the broadcasting market, and improving systems to establish an efficient competitive framework and create a fair competitive environment.
