Yes -- the summer is the halfway point in the year when new laptop models that were announced in the spring become available, which means discounts on devices that launched last year (or in the fall). 

How did we choose these early Amazon Prime Day deals?

We see lots of laptop deals every Prime Day, but we only highlight devices that we'd actually buy ourselves.
