coelacanth∅: when i was little my aunt gave me some chewing gum she'd brought back from china. it had comics with it. the comics depicted a dog barking (ruff, ruff -in our house) the onomatopoeia emanating from the dog was not Ruff however, it was BAH! BAH!.

Erik dwells VT: Some of the music played in the second set (1am-2am) & ‘On the Inness’ had me reminiscing on the delighted moments I was initially discovering R.Sakamoto’s music (early 1980s+). Putting aside his great ambient & more experimental & instrumental works, what are your favorites re his more “pop-oriented” releases/albums. If I had to winnow down, mine wood perhaps be ‘The Left Handed Dream’ (1981, the non Robin Scott version!), ‘Beauty’ (1989) & his collab with David Sylvian on the stellar 12” ep “bamboo houses/bamboo music”! really too many to mention. 🎪 ♥ 2:48am

Beauty is special to me, introduced me to music from Okinawa. I skipped class in college and went to a record store, bought that record and got it signed without knowing anything about Sakamoto.40+ records later I had to stop ordering Jandek records because having more of his than Sakamoto's feels wrong.
1996 is pretty cool, maybe on the edge of pop, Neo Geo has gems

Yes! ‘Esperanto’ is way cool! - l never found a copy, yet listened to it via streaming! ‘1996’ was that a collection of randoms?, (must revisit). agree, ‘Neo Geo’ has it’s moments. & finally hearing that initial release of “disappointment/hateruma” from 1976 was kinda revelatory. Cheerio 👋
