Gerry from Miami: JOE, "Parallax View" was an interesting film from the 70s that told the story of a "fictional" school to train assassins, especially targeting U.S. presidents. With, I think, HUME CRONYN, among others. Very creepy, like that film "The Arrangement," also about assassinations. I will check my sources to see if my memory is correct. Stay tuned. 🎸 ♥ 10:05am

I meant to reference a FRANCIS FORD COPPOLA film titled "The Conversation" starring Gene Hackman and a young Harrison Ford. Hackman is a detective who thinks he has discovered a plot to assassinate a senator(?). He records distant conversations between conspirators with a tape recorder implementing a long-range parabolic microphone. All this takes place in Ghirardelli Square, San Francisco. Years ago I went to see David Meltzer - the leader of The Serpent Power give a reading at Beyond Baroque in Venice. He was a lost link between the beats and the hippies. After the reading people were gathered around him asking about his place in the San Francisco/ Los Angeles poetry axis. Then illiterate moron me asked about The Serpent Power. That did it, he ignored all questions about poetry and only wanted to talk about the band he led. People were looking at me like I just farted in church.

That night, I won oin the know-it-all game.
