Good evening Snayle et al from above the 49th!
That "new to moi" Smithereens tune was great!
I'm here for a good time...not a long time as I have a doc film to catch in under an hour...so this first part will hopefully power me up to pick up my pace!
Thank goodness for the archives!

Awesome Snayle!!!
Your attendance is so large I can't launch it in one message!
Not sure what my limit is but a full call wouldn't send!
Great job from you! You don't seem to be character limited!
There's a clip of Phil showing his singers one of his songs. A friend of mine was there when he showed Darlene Love a song he had. Like Brian Wilson, he needed people to finish his songs.
She was very gracious and answered everyone’s questions. She told a remarkable story regarding Phil Spector which showed an entirely different side of him although she did acknowledge the side we’re used to hearing.
Hot Rod High always reminds me of my older brother in the high school parking lot punching it and accidentally knocking somebody's car door right off its hinges. UH-OH!!!
Single digit aged Stu loved this song back in the day!

Cavemann Dave:
Arkie Shibley made a career out of this riff. His early version of the tune was called "Hot Rod Race." He did serveral version of the song.

Rockpile Ruled! Working at wea I got 2 tiks to the Hollywood Paladioum, man they counced to our clubs for years, like Raji;s. They were the real deal. You Rule Snayle!!!
I often heard a rumor that Eddie Cochran's brother Bob helped write "Something Else" with Eddie and Shari Sheely. I was glad to see Bear Family attribute it to all three, which I believe to be correct.

REQUESTING HOLD ON BY IAN GOMM
A cover band I played in back in the '80s covered "Something Else" at a party we played at and one of the guests commented that the song "sounds like The Devos"!
He was part of our club Rajis on Hollywood Blvd, Where Patsy Cline's star lived on front sidewalk. I know he would be invited to join a local band up to the stage and up he went. A wonderful man who jponed our circle.

REQUEST idea: Snayle, do you have any Smokey and his Sister? If so, could we hear "A Far Better Thing", "In A Dream of Seven Seas" or anything else you prefer?
reminds me of my Radio Shack FlavorRadio in plum that I got when I was 10. The only station it got was WABC and I was fine with that --- Elton John, The Sylvers, Jefferson Starship, The Eagles, The Bee Gees, ELO, etc. etc. I was heaven.

"Radio Radio" by "Elvis Costello & the Attractions"
This album made such an impact. I first heard it in a record shop way uptown NYC. What a difference from the 1st album. The Vox Continental Organ, namely.
He was on Colbert talking about his radio show for 1/2 hour a few years ago. It was great!
