re The Jam: politely disagree, most of the lyrics to The JAM songs are Not upbeat in content … (yet they do indeed have a lively-up tone, the lyrics remain heavy & sometimes dire. ‘All Mod Cons’ & especially ‘Setting Sons’ is intense. Sonically ‘Sound Affects’ album is my fave (which gets a bit lighter & more latter Beatles-esque) yet ‘Setting Sons’ album is perhaps their most powerfully dark collection.
