So back to dreams......in my dreams, I fly, speak foreign languages, see in color, sometimes B&W or even cartoon. Lately I've been dreaming of having dreams where I revisit locations. And lately, my thing is to be in a dream and not liking the outcome, so I then decided to go back in time in the dream to change the sequence
this discussion is valuable anyhow because while his contributions are valuable, freud's work is indeed tainted with shortcomings like misogyny -- science is alive through those who build upon and refine the work!

wow dreams are so powerful! how did you manage to find some lucidity in your dreams?
I actually often am able to stop bad dreams, by becoming lucid. I then imagine (and this is actualy true!) Graham Chapman as the Colonel, cap and baton and all, stepping in frame and then saying 'Okay now stop, this is getting too silly' - and then the dream is over.

Are you also someone who can visualise a clock, close your eyes, and then wake up at exactly that time? I have always been in awe of people who can do that.
When I go into sleep mode I am clinically dead for the next however many hours. Lol
Same here, I strive for that every night, but not with regular success. Sometimes it's very easy to say "nope, not having this" and other times I'm just not aware enough to be awake bin the dream

Holy smokes! I've had a few prophetic dreams, but the one that stands out foretold that I was going to have a roommate in college after the intercession was over. The thing is that I paid for a single room. A week after the dream, someone from the college called to say that there was an issue with the temporary use of my room, but they assured me it would be solved when the semester started. It was not. It even escalated with said squatters refusing to vacate my room AND they threatened me with bodily harm. It took a couple of weeks to be sorted out. Meanwhile they ran up a large bill on my phone. I made them pay. The dream didn't really prepare me for the full scope of the problem, but it was still bizarre.
I will try valerian. After discovering I was delivered from a crisis, the adrenalin vanished and I crashed. 4:40 pm unable to keep eyes open. Slept at 10 pm awoke at 6:33 feeling great

You should definitely read Life Against Death:The Psychoanalytic Meaning of History (1959) by Norman O. Brown. A work of proto-psychdelic scholarship. A Google / AI search describes it as “a radical analysis of Freud that synthesizes psychoanalysis with Nietzschean and Marxist thought to critique civilization as inherently repressive.” It will fry your brain and damage your chromosomes, but be warned it was written before more current and comprehensive critiques of Freud and some of Brown’s assumptions have not held up to close examination. Still worth reading. You can find it at: https://archive.org/details/lifeagainstdeath0000norm

Oh, my lovely! You are genuinely such a lovely person <3DJ GeorgyGirl: I realised about ten minutes before today's show time, that it may in fact have been Jung, not Freud, who was responsible for "Id/Ego/Superego" - too late to change things now ;-)
DJ GeorgyGirl: Just checked - it was Freud. Phew!
J in LA: Last night I took my 99yr old father to listen to mariachis for Cinco de Mayo (fake American holiday). He got very teary eyed in reminiscing about my mother who passed away 5yrs ago

J in LA: So back to dreams......in my dreams, I fly, speak foreign languages, see in color, sometimes B&W or even cartoon. Lately I've been dreaming of having dreams where I revisit locations. And lately, my thing is to be in a dream and not liking the outcome, so I then decided to go back in time in the dream to change the sequence
